The Best place on the see food market at Rawai. You can buy fish in the market and go inside for cooking. The Chief is very friendly!!!!

“Something Fishy!”
Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

I don't like fish, but while in Phuket you've just gotta try it! So I set the owner of Gypsy a challenge to recommend and cook something fishy for me that I'd like. He recommended a spicy grouper dish, garlic tiger prawns and some morning glory......it was awesome :-D The grouper went from swimming in a tank to being on a plate in front of me in 10mins, it couldn't be fresher!

The owner is really friendly, speaks great English and really knows his stuff. The food is a little more expensive than other local Thai restaurants, but I guess what you get for the extreme freshness! It's a little out of the way but worth hunting it down :-)

“Never again ”
Reviewed January 9, 2014 via mobile

My wife and i went to gypsy for the second time , first time was a mini disaster but the second was just plain awful . The owner kept talking to us in broken Russian with a grin on his face .
The food took forever to come and when it did arive everything was over cooked .
The area is not very nice with lots of gypsy kids begging for money .
Sorry but this is no where near the best place in Rawai

We are really sorry that you did not have a good experience on both visits. The holiday season coupled with the new year and high season, saw us having just too many diners.

We now shut our door during peak hours and only welcome those with reservations. The situation has improved this way. Please call 0819785989 to make reservations.

We are located in the Gypsy Village. The Gypsies unfortunately are a sorry lot. Hope the next time you meet them, you would kind towards them

“Best Thai Food I've Ever Had!”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

A Thai friend took us to Gypsy's at Rawai and boy we were in for a treat! First of all, the owner of the restaurant welcomed us and sat us down. He then gave us his suggestions on what to order and about different styles of cooking. We had Lobster Sashimi, which was epic, then had the soup that was made from the Lobster's head, Shrimp with Garlic butter, steamed fish, Pineapple rice. Everything was extremely delicious! I would definitely recommend it for anyone going to Phuket. I am looking forward to visiting them next year.
