Visited originally 10 years ago, returned again on this trip. The shop upstairs has some lovely shells and also typical tourist items but venture downstairs and you enter the most magnificent display of shells and amazing fossils that would be the envy of major museums. They don’t advertise extensively and sadly even resort staff have minimal knowledge about this treasure. 200 baht is well worth spending for this museum.

This is more of a place to sell pearls, shells, and jewelry made with shells. There is a large collection of shells in the corner, and about 5 signs throughout the place about the history or types of shells. Otherwise, I would not really call this place a museum--just a shop that has signs.

Visited on a rainy day with the grandchildren. Lots and lots of huge different shells from Thailand and from all over the world .
Two floors to discover with a gift shop on the main floor.

Based on some good reviews, we took the kids to this museum. It was a really cool experience. I've never seen a collection before like they have there! It actually really helped us identify some of the shells we have from our travels. I also really loved the gift shop! I bought a beautiful mirror ringed with shells for only like $36USD. We also bought a lot of other fun little keepsakes.

Excellent variety of collection of Shells...unbelievable. Have not been anywhere that we had seen such a variety. Cheap admissions and not a place to miss in Phuket!

World-Class, Of Interest to Academic-Types and Shopping for Pearls and Rare Fossils. This collection is incredible, undoubtedly the best open to the public dealing with Indian Ocean shells. There is a self-guided tour with descriptions in Thai and English of each family of shells. I found many interesting stories, for instance that the Greek mythological golden fleece was likely from the material a large Mediterranean clam uses to bind itself to rocks. The shells are beautiful, too, so if you are with kids or have a casual interest, you could spend half an hour. Or you could spend 90 minutes as I did. The gift shop is not to be overlooked. It's huge and has a selection of top notch inexpensively priced pearls ($100-200) as well as hard to find large fossil specimens such as ammonites ($250). There are also many less expensive pieces and loose shells kids would love starting as low as 15 baht. you have to visit there..to see these all

It was a long bus ride from Puket downtown to get to the museum, but I wouldn't make a special trip to see it unless you are planning to going by it anyway. It certainly is fascinating to see all the types of seashells displayed. I am quite into biology and nature and I enjoyed myself, but quite a few people on the tour were bored silly. If you want to purchase items made from seashells it is a great place. I picked up some interesting serving spoons to take back as gifts. If you really want to learn about shells a good book or thorough internet search would tell you just as much.

I was here with girlfriend and couple of friends. We thought that this place is boring as hell, but instead it has very interesting exhibition - ancient relics, shells you will never see anywhere else. Entrance fee was just 200 THB and was a huge free parking space.
