The Vijitt Resort Phuket
Ranked #4 of 43 Hotels in Rawai
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 3, 2011

The location is clearly not for shopping or partying but assuming one has done his homework you know what you are getting into . The Vijit is located in quite a secluded section in rawai so don't expect you will stumble on any street stalls or cheap massages on the beach. It is a great place to stay in if you are happy to stay on site to chill out by the pool or beach. The beach in the area is not very wide and when it is in low tide you can walk quite far out into sea. There were a lot of people doing kite surfing and it seems that the strong wind and shallow water is ideal for kite surfing.

Staff here are extremely friendly. We ate 2 nights in a row at the international restaurant as you pretty much need to drive or cab anywhere you want to go. Food is ok by the standards in Phuket ie if you are after international cuisine we find it pretty much the same anywhere you go so it is a matter of the atmosphere, wine selection and price .

Overall, if you are after a quiet place and beautiful setting to relax in and read a few books, vijit is better value than evasion we believe. If you would like a busier stretch of Phuket with street stalls and cheap massages, hotels in this location won't suit.

My partner and I stayed here for 6 nights and wanted to stay longer. We stayed in the luxurious Vijitt Villa, beachfront which had uninterrupted views of the water. Amazing pool, there were quite a few guests but it never felt crowded and there was always good service. Whether as a couple or with young children (they have an outstanding kids club!) I would highly recommend Vijitt for a relaxing and romantic stay. We had dinner for two under the stars in front of our villa.

We've just returned from14 nights at the Vijitt and have to say that we've been very impressed. We booked a Prime Pool Villa and when we arrived found we'd been upgraded to a Beach Villa. We didn't ask - it was offered. I have to admit the resort was quiet when arrived - so maybe we were just in the right place at the right time (it's taken 10 years to 'get lucky'). So, as far as the accom is concerned we have been swayed - the beach villas with private pools are simply amazing - in fact it would be difficult to go back and not pay the upgrade fee if necessary. The hotel is built on a hillside and it's steep. The resort offers 'golf buggy' type carts to run you about - should you be either too lazy or simply not able to get about. The staff are all (from reception to the gardeners) very polite and cannot do enough to help. The food is available in 2 locations, one a main restaurant and the other a typical traditional thai house or you can dine in your Villa. The food is fantastic. Service very good. The beach is not too great - as the bay is tidal, so if you are looking for 'gin clear' water and white powdery sand, then this resort is not for you. In fact all of the hotels in this area suffer the same effect.
At night time it's very quite - very, very quiet. There's no banging disco, loud bars. Peace & tranquility only. Get a taxi and there's a load of loud stuff a short journey away. But, that's not what this resort is about. We got a little bored and went out. The food is certainly cheaper - but that's to be expected.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay. If the beach and water was what i described earlier, and we could always stay in the Beach Villa i could safely say that we would return year after year - and we don't do 'repeat visits' as a rule.

We loved our stay even though the pool was not as secluded as it was meant to be. Staff were faultless in catering for all our needs. Food excellent and in plenty supply

This hotel certainly has its charms but compared to other hotels in Asia, it is nowhere near the five star mark. The service, ambience and quality of accomodation just does not meet the same standard as other five star hotels in Asia and across the world.

LOCATION: Far from the over commercialised neon lights of Phuket and Patong. The beach is non-existent and the nearest proper beach - Nai Harn is dirty, over-populated with tourists and no longer a pretty beach.

ACCOMODATION: We stayed in the garden villa, it was basic, with the room being so small that almost its entirety was taken up by the bed. The view was poor, overlooking other villas, meaning that we had to draw the curtains to get any sort of privacy.

We asked if there was a room with a better view but were told that would cost an extra £120 for our stay,

The infinity pool was a nice feature and a nice place to watch sunsets.

IN-ROOM amenities - The outdoor shower in the day was nice but due to mosquitos etc not suitable in the night. The indoor shower was a tiny handheld shower, probably used to clean the large bathtub.

Despite having a large bath-tub, no bubble bath was provided or available. When I raised this with the manager he did arrange a "complimentary" bath for us. Apparently they have a "bath time menu" which costs from £25 upwards for them to run you a bubble bath (what a disgrace).

FOOD: Good breakfast selection

STAFF: Courteous and friendly. The front desk staff had good English and were keen to practice their newly acquired language skills. Some of the resturant and bar staff had poor English and so food and drink orders were difficult to make.

CONCIERGE: This does not exist. The front desk staff (often just one or two people) multi-task between acting as operator and answering guest queries. On our first night we asked about local restaurants, The staff member was unable to give us any information and so we spent 30mins doing our own internet search to find local restaurants (Da Vinci Italian is brilliant)

We did raise our concerns with the manager. He was very friendly, approachable and helpful and told us that he was keen to make improvements and change things for the better. In his welcome letter, he had asked patrons to bear with them whilst they go through the teething problems encountered by a new hotel.

Unfortunately teething problems or not, money and time spent on a holiday is precious so I would suggest if you want true Asian five star luxury, stay somewhere else.

Stayed at Vijitt's single storey beachfront villa for 4 nights. Was pleasantly upgraded. ( a very nice touch since it's our honeymoon.)

1) Villa is definitely spacious.
2) free wifi an added plus.
3) Villa generally clean and especially pleased with the turn-down service provided every evening.
4) the sunrise view from our bed was pretty breathtaking.
5) private pool was clean but have to agree with some of the comments here, that its pretty cold especially so if you're in phuket during the monsoon season. - rawai beach is known for its strong gust of winds.
6) i think in terms of privacy the beachfront villas is the best, since very rarely you have tenants/workers walking along the shore.

Staff
1) no complains at all with the service provided.
2) very courteous and friendly - live up to thailand's name - the land of smiles.
3) restaurant staff even takes the time to chat and get to know us during breakfast - very warm/sincere.
4) the buggy is always punctual and yes will come within 10 minutes as promised.
5) English needs to be improved though. no problem communicating face to face but takes time for staff to understand when we ordered room service via the phone. they are actually patient enough though to get the order right.

dining
1) the in villa dining was pretty good. though not a wide range of selection but the food is served warm and i have to say its pretty delicious.
2) more selection available at the restaurant for dinner and such. food quality is good and the price is of the normal hotel prices.

location.
1) vijitt is located at the far south of phuket. for those who is looking for privacy/serenity, this is the place to be at.
2) maybe a lil inconvenient to travel to bustling towns like Patong/Phuket town, as the hotel only provide one shuttle service at about 6pm and it cost around 1300baht per trip to Patong. Perhaps the hotel should provide more shuttles and a cheaper price.
3) the nearest convenient store is 5 mins bike ride from vijitt so to smokers, stock up on the ciggies.
4) for those looking to book island hopping trips from external tour agencies (from patong especially) do note that the tour agencies will incur extra charges to fetch you from Vijitt due to its location. for convenience sake and if you have the cash to splash, vijitt do arrange for the island hopping trips.

in a nutshell, given the chance, I will definitely go back to Vijitt Resorts for a holiday. Thank you vijitt resort for the great time. :D
