“A wonderful oasis of calm and beauty with excellent service!”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

My wife and I have just returned from a two week holiday in Thailand. After busy Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the Vijitt Resort was a really lovely experience. The site is beautifulyy landscaped with the villas are screened from each other by palms and banana trees, each one having its own decking with loungers. Our villa was spotless and was serviced daily. The staff run 'golf type' buggies to run guests around the site if needed.
The overriding thing about the Vijitt is the warm and friendly service. Without exception the staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble.
The location is on the quieter side of Phuket, and a daily shuttle will take you to other parts of the island. The sea is tidal so you get the comings and goings of the tide and you can walk for miles either side of the resort. Across the bay you can watch the boats going between the islands.
The breakfast offering was huge and food at lunch and dinner very nicely cooked and presented. Food are drinks did not seem expensive. We did not use the Spa. We would definitely recommend the Vijitt!

Room Tip: Choose beachfront if you can but I expect all villas are nice.

Not 5 star! Do not book! Poor service, too expensive for what you recieve. If you expect 5 star you will be very very disappointed. Rooms are dirty, bed sheets have stains. Some service staff are rude, i.e. you get interupted while ordering. Patience is required when ordering....once we waited 45 min for drinks! Staff avoid eye contact so its difficult to get their attention. There is no proper beach. Lots of mosquitoes. List could go on and on...

Peerawut K, Manager at The Vijitt Resort Phuket, responded to this review, February 18, 2013
In regard to the comments, we apologies for any inconveniences caused you. please allow me to explain your comments point by point:

1) not 5 Star
The hotel is non-chain property, we are independent hotel and thus no any branches. We claim our hotels as a 5 Star comparing with other hotels at the same sources (no chain). The hotel consist of two restaurants, one pool bar, activities, kid club, fitness center, shops, 24 lobby service etc. which are the same as other non-chain properties.

2) Poor Service
The staffs were trained to serve the customer with the Thai hospitality style. it is a gentle approach. We had noted that during your staff, the request for drinking waters we provided extra for both villas. According to our guest questionnaire and on the review on TripAdvisor, these can be guaranteed of our hospitality.

3) Too expensive for what you receive
The price we set up i.e. room charge, meals which are on ala carte menu and the variety of selections available thus customers can also select from the menu. On the other hand, we also have three times a week with the buffet. The price may consider expensive because of 5 people for one bill (total expenses) however if it is not the case, please let me know then I can rectify the problem.

4) Rooms are dirty, bed sheet have stains
The design of the Vijitt Resort, the floor made of terrazzo and the special decoration is we put the bamboo rings all over the floor. The typical of the terrazzo is not look plain because there are some small pieces of pebbles. The wall also special design, it made from coconut texture (hair) together with the lime and apply over cement. This is the style not the dirty. The bed sheets, we just ordered from our supplier since last December, they are all new however the color may cause the issue because Phuket Water is from under ground water and we sent out our laundry to the out source. We also have our control quality check prior to use for customer.

5) Some service staff are rude
According to our no.2, the staffs are trained and if they are not qualify within 90-120 days, we will not allow them to continue the job but will terminate them. During 90-120 days, the manager will keep his/her eye on the new staff to make sure the performance will meet the standard of service. For the old staff, the manager also have the evaluation monthly. Each department also have their own briefing, one of the topic will be "service standard". I am sure that the Thai hospitality with gentle service may cause the barrier of culture.

6) Wait for 45 mins for drinks/staff avoid eye contact
Our practice at the restaurant is, we will serve our snack while waiting for drinks or meals however the maximum is approx 10 minutes wait. For 45 minutes is considered too long and our Captain and Supervisor always monitor in the restaurant. They will look after the customers with the approach courtesy.

7) No proper Beach
All the Rawai and the East Coast area, it is tidal beach. It is still natural area of the island however customer who look for relaxing and calm and quiet area with lot of trees. They will like it and The Vijitt Resort also consider this is our main mission to keep the nature for customer. However, we also substitute with free shuttle service to the nearby beach "Nai Harn Beach" and also free trip to "Coral Island" and also our big main swimming pool along the bay with 50 meters long.

8) Lots of Mosquitoes
For the tropical forest and lots of plants around, like little houses in the jungle, they always some insect for example-mosquitoes which we also provide with the natural product "lemongrass mosquito repellent" to keep away the mosquito. On the other hand, we also pray the lemongrass three times a week.

During your stay, we also make sure that our service is met to our standard and whatever the request we have from you the prompt service we do. Our Personal Assistant Manager also gave a courtesy call during the stay and if we had any comments we will correct them however we did not have any comments at all. On the other hand, our Assistant Sport & Recreation who took care you and family at the fitness center also met you and check the satisfaction and we got the positive reply.

On Sunday, 17th Feb at around 11:00 am, the main swimming pool had an activity "Aqua Aerobic" there were 3 family joined and it took for 45 minutes. During the activity on going, one of your family went to the station and turned off the music however we explained to you that this was our activity which was informed on the welcome letter. Also our Assistant Sport & Recreation Manager went to give you explanation but you also threaten her that you will put the very bad comments into the "Tripadvisor". The story brought up to our Duty Manager who came to you and explain again that the activity will further for 10 minutes then finish however you were not happy with it.

We knew that you will give comments to "Tripadvisor" however some of the comments we can certainly improve for better service however with the comments above I personally feel that because of the issue at the main swimming pool then caused your evaluation for the whole stay.

With my regards,
Peerawut Kunchorn

The Vijitt is a boutique style all villa resort just south of Phuket. The service is wonderful, the villas are luxurious, and there's nothing like having a private plunge pool with your villa for the utmost privacy and relaxation. The activities (including the free day trip to Coral Island) and the food (both breakfast at the Savory and dinner at the Baan Vijitt) were excellent.

However, the beach on the property itself leaves much to be desired. It's a narrow strip and the water isn't exactly clear. I think in general the beaches on the eastern coast of Phuket Island are nicer than those on the west coast. The resort does offer free shuttle transportation to other beaches on the island (and don't miss Coral Island, truly gorgeous), but the schedule is such that you'll end up spending at least half a day at these beaches. Not bad if you're on a slow paced relaxation trip, but not ideal if you're only in Phuket for a short stay.

That being said, it's a great value for the type of accommodations provided. The resort is also very family friendly, with a range of activities for kids and adults.

We stayed at the Vijitt for 4 nights as the first part of our Honeymoon in Jan 2013. On our arrival we were greated by friendly staff and upgraded to a villa with a pool!! The room was huge, lounge, bedroom, 2x bathroom, decking and pool with a sea view. We ate in the hotel one night and couldn't fault the food. The only slight downside was the beach was quite small and as a result no one really sat on it. Hotel grounds spotless and all staff very polite and helpful, lovely atmosphere. A perfect start to our honeymoon!

I stayed here with my boyfriend last August for two nights but easily could have stayed for an extra night. The resort is tucked away in a very quiet area about 90 mins from Phuket airport. We absolutely loved our private villa with pool. it had an enormous bath tub and the outdoor rain shower was just amazing. The restaurant was open air and had an lovely view of the sea....great way to spend the morning. We tried to explore the local towns...found a couple of restaurants but not much in the way of nightlife. They were very chilled during the day and we spent them chilling with a beer / massage. Would highly recommend for a couple's break.

Room Tip: The private pool villas were awesome : )

Have just returned from 6 nights at the Vijjit in Rawai. The Hotel is made up of a number of villas set in beautifully lush gardens along the coastline of Friendship beach just outside Rawai Beach. The villas are spread over a wide area and the hotel offers a buggy ride to your room or to the restaurants which saves walking up and down some of the steep slopes. The room was very nice with lots of space. It had a large bath, double sink, outdoor shower, fridge and complementary water. It also had a balcony with 2 sun loungers. The breakfast was a buffet at the Savoury restaurant offering continental or hot breakfast with a chef to make omeletts, eggs and waffles while you waited. The pool area has 2 infinity salt water pools and a number of sun loungers on a large wooden decked area. The hotel does not really have its own beach but offers trips to nearby Coral Island and Nai Harn beach. The trip to Coral Island requires a complementary speed boat transfer which was pretty rough the day we travelled but once you are there you have your own spot on a fairly crowded beach. Nai Harn Beach is on the other side of the Island and the hotel will take you in a mini bus. The beach is beautiful with a small number of shops and restaurants. My wife visited the V Spa at the hotel and enjoyed her experience. We didnt eat at night at the hotel but did eat in Rawai which isnt really that far from the hotel. By being slightly out of town it ensures peace and tranquility. You could walk to a few bars or it's a short taxi ride to the main strip of restaurants.

The Vijitt is nestled in a quite area in Phuket, The lush grounds were beautifully landscaped and well kept, and there was never any litter seen during our entire stay. The villas were decorated in a modern style, yet the abundance of wood used gives it a very strong feel of Thai culture. Nightly showers were such a pleasure with the incredibly large rain shower head in the bathroom. The rooms were very clean and spacious, and the infinity pool was perfect. Our first morning there, we enjoyed the sunrise from the deck right outside of the room which was purely spectacular and only added to the already relaxing environment.

Vijitt offers several places for dining but my favorite place was the Savoury. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of foods, both western and Thai, with a separate room dedicated to fruits, juices and yogurts. And if you find that there isn't anything you'd like to eat, then the chef was more than happy to prepare any special dish at your request. I was, however, completely satisfied with the abundance and variety of the food that was offered at the buffet. The Savoury has 2 dining areas--one open-air and the other enclosed and air conditioned. I dined in both areas and they are equally excellent. The latte I ordered for breakfast the first morning was absolutely divine, and I ordered one each morning thereafter. Also, one afternoon we ordered a variety of smoothies that were made from local fresh fruit. They were all delicious and we enjoyed sipping on them while hanging out and taking in the beautiful scenery.

Included in our stay was a day trip to Coral Island. We met at the front of the hotel, took a very short ride in a passenger van, then hopped on a boat to the island where we snorkeled and enjoyed a relaxing day at a beautiful beach. I believe there are other excursions and day trips available, too, and I highly recommend that you take advantage of these offerings. Just check the front desk upon your arrival to see what they have available and sign up if you're interested because these trips fill up quickly.

We also enjoyed massages at the Spa. On the spur of the moment, we decided we wanted to experience a Thai massage. To our surprise, the Spa was able to accommodate all 3 of us. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a cup of lemongrass tea and a cool washcloth to wipe our hands. Next, we were assessed by the therapist about what type of massage we were interested in, as well as any areas they should target. The massage area was very clean and tidy. The therapist was professional, the massage was soothing, and I particularly enjoyed the aromatic scents that filled the air. My only regret is that I wished I had booked a much longer massage than one hour.

The entire staff at the Vijitt Resort was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Nothing that we requested was too much trouble for them. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. It exceeded my highest expectations.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room that wasn't too far from the Savoury, which made walking over there easy and...
