Lovely national park, and the best thing of all is that we saw elephants in the wild!
As the other reviewers explain, you need to drive to the park then park at Pa dang(?) substation, arriving at 3pm (tours are 3-6pm), pay 200 baht entrance few per person then another 750 baht which is the cost of hiring a guide and a pick up truck (plus driver) who then drive you (only you unleas you came with your own group) through the jungle to various places where you can see elephants in the wild (eating, bathing in lake etc). We also saw deer, wild pigs, loads of colourful butterflies and a huge bee nest. You sit on a bench seat on the back of the pick up truck and are bounced around a fair bit during the drive, but it was great fun. Our guide couldn't speak a word of English, but was very friendly and patient trying to explain to me in simple Thai that I could understand. The elephants were about 50-150 metres away (very close at one place). We saw five in total. It seemed very safe too, as there were armed rangers nearby communicating with each other on walkie talkie and you had to stay in the truck if the elephants were too near.
I would highly recommend this as an afternoon trip, the countryside and view point was also beautiful.
