I booked and paid for two nights at this place and left after one.

I should have learned by now. Never book a really cheap hotel as you get what you pay for. The bed was like a rock, the bathroom was falling apart, the bathroom sink is only about 3 feet high which is great for kids but a pain for adults of even average height. The bedroom floor was concrete that I suppose had a polished years ago but this has since worn off.

They put a 32 inch flatscreen TV in the room but no mini bar, no tea/coffee making facilities and next to nothing in the bathroom.

I didn't bother with breakfast as a cockroach was leaving the hotel (says it all) as we were walking in.

However, if you want somewhere cheap in a good location it may be for you.

My first and last experience with this hotel for sure.

Room Tip: If you intend to stay here during Aug - Oct this year ask for a room near the elevator as the other end of the hotel is next to Bob the Builder.

Found this place by chance in the guide book. Having stayed in around four hotels in Thailand on the trip so far, this was the best. Friendly service, clean room, great shower and comfortable beds. It's in a quiet location but within walking distance of the main streets and beach. Excellent value for money and good breakfast too.

We were there the same time as Brentwood, totally agreed with all the good comments.

Unfortunately the hotel is now filled with European tourists that have no manners, they shout across the tables to chat with their friends at breakfast time.

As Brentwood quoted, their new internet provider’s system is very slow, we went to the lobby at 7.00pm trying to update our flight details, there were 8 – 9 Europeans standing around the lobby by the computers, with beers in their hands chatting and shouting at each other (LOUD, I mean VERY loud), the receptionist did nothing to ensure the comfort of other guests, so I resolved the issue with them by myself, the scene wasn’t very nice and I was called names.
Also the beds as most of them seem to be were very hard, but overall eliminating the rude Europeans the hotel is very good with lovely staff.

This is now our second visit to the Merrison and it was as good as the first however they have obviously replaced their Internet provider or they have limited the bandwidth on their existing system as it was considerably slower than our previous visit.
Staff are still very friendly and the level of cleanliness is very high.

Room Tip: Again we suggest you ask for an odd numbered room overlooking the Boomerang Inn. You actually get a view of Patong Hill
