“Amazing costumes and sets but lacklustre performance”
Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

Would've been more impressed if the songs were not lipsynched. Quite fantastic to see the ladyboys though, you would never guess! Be careful with the photos at the end they charge you 200 baht. Would only recommend to go if you want to say you've seen a ladyboy show. Also gets quite cold due to aircon so take a jacket with.

“A Tourist Must See”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Thais love cabaret shows. These are not "live" per se, but rather lipped sync'd. There arre several large, tourist directed shows in Thailand. One is Bangkok, one in Pattaya and the Simon Cabaret in Phuket.
These shows are built around the Katoeys or ladyboys that Thailand is famous for. Simon Cabaret is located in Patong and is a large operation. You can book through your hotel and transportation is included in the ticket price. The theater is large and they have three shows a night. There are large production numbers for westerners, Koreans, Burmese and Chinese.
They serve drinks, but you cannot take pictures during the show. The cast come out before and after the show and you can take pictures then, but if you want to pose with them, it will cost you 100 Bhat.

If you've seen one of these before, you can skip this one. It' purely for the tourist crowd. The show is family friendly, so feel free to bring the kids.

“Impressive stage sets”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

We purchased VIP tickets from our hotel to get better seats and when we arrived the usher took us to the wrong seats and later on another usher got a bit grumpy with us and made us move just as the show was starting which was a bit annoying. But that meant moving away from a crowd of sweaty people! Just think the place could be better ventilated!

I've been to cabaret shows in other parts of Thailand before and none have stage sets as nice as the ones in Simon Cabaret. The costumes were also good too but thought some of the dancing, particularly the male roles, and lip miming could be improved.

If you've not seen a cabaret show before in Thailand then I recommend going to Simon Cabaret as there is a good mix of cultural performances. I would also recommend paying a little bit extra for the VIP tickets as you're nearer the stage. However, be warned that if you're at the end of a row near the front, and male, you will be 'targeted' by some of the 'time filling' ladyboys in their hideous, humorous outfits...they basically find half a dozen of men to kiss!! Also at the end of the show, you will be given the opportunity to take pictures with the ladyboys but this doesn't come free so expect to tip them.

It was just fun! This show features Phuket's treasured "lady boys" performing one entertaining song and dance number after another, with just over-the-top, beautiful costumes.

“Good costumes and stage sets.”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

The show was enjoyable, but all the music was recorded and the cast mimed to everything. It wasn't an expensive show, so perhaps I was expecting too much. The show didn't match up to the introduction as the most glamorous show in the world - but we really didn't expect that level of entertainment.

It was spoiled a little at the end with the cast lining up outside for photographs and expecting to be paid for posing.

Worth seeing if you are interested in seeing these gender benders - it is genuinely hard to believe that these ladyboys are all male!

Most people take cameras to the show but unfortunately they are not allowed to be used in the theatre. The theatre bar is good and the prices are the same as the local bars which was a surprise as they have a captive audience.

Worth seeing once in your life.
