“Great location and value..”
Reviewed December 17, 2011

This hotel is supposed to be a 3-star property but I would rate it a lower 4-star..

The hotel is a few minutes walk to Patong Beach via small side road. It's perfect for people who want beach access but who also want to be away from the hubbub of the main road. It's also only 5-10 mins walk to Jungceylon, one of Phuket's biggest shopping centres, and the bars on Bangla Road. Perfect location for just about anything.

I stayed in the newer wing (Wing 1? I cannot remember so please check with them first before booking) and the room was HUMONGOUS with a nice balcony (not much of a view though). This wing is a 2-storey wing a bit of a walk from the main building. Rooms here are more updated than the rest of the resort with a few touches of the "spa" look in the bathroom.

Rooms at the main building are smaller. Old but well-maintained. The higher floors have a bit of a sea view from the balcony.

I do not recommend the rooms at the building directly in front of the main one. They seem to be the oldest and the sickly green walls did not appeal to me very much. I was told however that they were the rooms of choice for wheelchair bound guests as it's the most accessible of all the wings and they have free standing showers instead of tubs.

Pools are nice and big. If you're too lazy to go to the beach, you can hang around here too.

Minibar prices were surprisingly not too expensive.. compared to how other hotels charge.

Buffet breakfast was adequate. Not such a big spread but all the essentials were there. The spread doesn't vary much though so after your 3rd day you kinda get a bit tired of it.

Room Tip: When making the booking, ask for the rooms at the newest wing.

I went out to Pattaya with 5 other friends and we had a booking at Patong Resort. Basically because of excellent location. The resort is Beach Side, right next to the Bangla street. The location was great and when we reached the hotel will not disappoint. It is huge and is well maintained. Our sorrow started when we reached Pattaya from Bangkok in the morning around 9am and were dying to get fresh and move ahead with the scheduled city tour. We reached reception and found that the reservation starts from 2pm as per hotel policy. We fought a little and were assured by 12 they will give us 1 of the 3 rooms. Our yatra agent there was the one we vented out on but it was less of his fault and more of the Indian counterparts who failed to inform us or them,. However, the beach was close-by. We dumped our luggage sat on the beach side having bear. When we came back at 12 the story was repeated that at 1 they will provide the rooms. We waited till 1 and then we started shouting a little on the receptionist. Finally, we got the rooms and the upgraded ones. Rooms were in excellent shape. Big, clean, balconies, and more amenities than what you get in a normal hotel. I'm not sure how our actual rooms were as we were never moved. In all, if the time problem was not an issue. Patong Resort is definitely recommended. It has all the amenities one needs and the location is great. Beware though. If you are planning to bring a company back it will cost you 1000 bhat for hotel. That's the way all hotels are in Thailand I guess.

Room Tip: Higher floors for better night view

Have stayed here 2 times and will be staying here again in June Next year.
We have enjoyed our stay here staff are excellent and will try and help you in any way they can.
Good pools and always clean.
Paying extra for the room safe we did not like ,should be free.
Lots of food to enjoy at breakfast.
The room we had was large and was cleaned every day.
The hotel is near all the night life and close to good shopping.

Room Tip: Get a room in the New wing. Near the pool.

The last time I stayed at Patong Resort, I felt it was already quite old. This time around that feeling remains. It seemed like it was stuck in time, with no noticeable improvements that hotels usually get after some decades serving customers. Maybe the repeat clientele like it that way, kind of something familiar year after year.

There is no denying Patong Resort probably has the best location of all the Patong beach hotels. Central, yet set further in enough to be removed from the hubbub of Bang La Road and the surrounding bars. Everything is within walking distance - convenience stores, foot massage, great seafood, and the many, many drinking holes.

Service at the hotel is spotty and mechanical, lacking the sincere, professional warmth of finer establishments. Once the sales executives intervene, it becomes much better, but unfortunately they were not around as often as they could. Our check in at 01.00 hrs. was not smooth. The lone reception person was confused and looked scared.

The rooms are, well, old and dirty. A few cockroaches joined us in the bathroom, the bathtubs were marked and overall the rooms felt musty. The decor was blah. The good thing was the cable TV with plenty of channels to put you to sleep. The breakfast buffet and the restaurant food in general was passable, with some good Phuket dishes on the menu.

A colleague of mine mentioned this could be a great hotel. Unless the owner invests in a major refurbishment, this will not be a reality anytime soon.
