Hello there! I was at Amaya Beach Resort quite recently, 14th June for 4 nights and i must say I am very satisfied with my stay. Journey from the airport to the resort took about an hour. The resort overlooks Patong Beach which is conveniently just across the street, probably a 2 min walk. Yes it is that close! The resort is also along Bangla Night Market and Junceylon which is another convenient thing because you can do your shopping really close by and you do not have to pay for transport. I'd say it is about 5 mins walk to the night market and approximately 10 mins walk to Junceylon. I also recommend you to check out the Island Hopping Tour to Phi Phi Islands, its pretty cool.
There are many restaurants along the street, fresh seafood, Indian food, authentic Thai food and even Starbucks. If you are a muslim, good news for you because halal food is all around, though mostly are Indian Restaurants but do take note some still sell liquor and beer. Personally I would encourage you to try their crepes, you can see vendors along the road. My favourite one is from this 2 lady just across the zebra crossing around Junceylon shopping centre. Their nutella crepe is really good or I think the batter of the crepe is pretty nice. I would also encourage you to try the kebab, the first stall on your left as you turn to Bangla Night market, you won't miss it but the kebab is really-really gooood! I recommend the large one because it has more meat. And fret not, it is halal!! Ask for the youghurt-garlic sauce cause its an alternative to mayo and personally, that sauce with chilli sauce blends well together with the kebab. Woo I am salivating as I am thinking about it.. Haha!
Right, okay back to the hotel... The staff are really friendly and accomodative. I got the standard room, which looks over the beach and the busy road. However as you can see some people find it hard to sleep overlooking the road, for me its pretty okay. No complains. The bed is just nice and I really love the shower, it has the raining-from-the-top-kind and also your usual standard shower head. Breakfast is included for everyone and I must say they do have quite a range... from american fried rice to omelettes, fruit salads, cereals, you know what i mean. If the pancake is on the menu, I recommend you to try it! Its so soft and buttery and wow.. just so good. The swimming area is not as wide but I kinda like the cosines. I'd say this place is more suitable for solo, couples and friends. They do not really have a big family room in one room but if you are staying with the family, I suggest you book 2 rooms.
The cons I must say that there are not many space for breakfast but its okay to me. And also the fact that they do not have a tissue box in the sleeping area is disappointing. But all in all, these are some cons that we can actually alter to our own benefit.
