We stayed here for 2 nights as the last stop on our 2 month trip through SE Asia and were glad it wasn't for any longer.

The first room they gave us was a huge twin room with no windows on the fifth floor (there is a lift thank god). As we walked in I didn't even put my bag down as I explained we had booked a double. The staff were quick to change it and gave us the double room opposite that was in the process of being cleaned. This room had a large double bed, AC, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a window overlooking the building site mentioned by others. I think the biggest advantage of being so high up was that we didn't hear any noise from the street and managed to sleep quite well. The bathroom was quite compact but there was no overlap - the sink, toilet and shower each had their own space; and we were provided with bath and pool towels. I used the pool towel as a bath towel as they were of better quality.
The room decoration was plain and looked dated but it was functional for what we needed it for - a bed and base to visit Koh Phi Phi before heading home.

There was free wifi in the reception and two computers with Internet that could be used free of charge. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment on food/service available.

The hotel is set back 100m from the main strip and there is a 7-11 a couple of doors down to the left (on the main road) if you want to stock up on snacks/drinks. There are plenty of restaurants to chose from and some very pushy shop owners/masseurs - if you walk with a purpose with a little bit of pace they mostly leave you alone but it can be quite irritating trying to get past them every night without being yelled at/propositioned.

Ordinarily transfers to the airport can be arranged for 150 baht per person in a mini van (we did this from the airport to the hotel and are a couple of companies offering this as you collect your baggage) but as we had an early flight these mini vans were not running (they start at 7am from Patong to airport) we paid 600 baht for a private taxi. Some travel agents wanted 800+ but we kept asking around and found the cab for 600 through a tours desk outside a pharmacy looking shop on the main strip - walk out to the main road, turn right and it's about 2-3 mins up the road, halfway to the big shopping center.

Overall we didn't really like Patong as a place which may have influenced my average rating of Patong Beach Lodge but as I said its functional and served its purpose for the 2 nights we stayed there.

This hotel is truly awful, the rooms are very dated, there is no room in the bathroom and the toilet is in the shower, it overlooks a building site on one side which was flooded and the seedy and very noisy street on the other. This hotel is suitable mainly for backpackers looking for somewhere cheap to stay. We were extremely disappointed at the breakfasts which consisted of white bread, butter melting on a plate and lettuce leaves and some very stewed coffee! Not good at all it was very very noisy in the evenings when the bars started playing loud music and we could not get to sleep as the aircon was extremely noisy as well.

This property is a diamond in the rough - exceptional value for money. The price is low but the property is spacious, good & clean. Breakfast is adequate, but the location is just sensational. If you want beach-front this is not for you, as it is up a side street (100mtrs) off the main center artery of Patong Beach, 4min walk to Millinium Centre. The hotel atmosphere has overtones of a bygone colonial era.
Due for re-furb April-2013, the upgrade will take this hotel from 3 to 4 star status which will undoubtedly mean the attractive pricing will go. Staff are polite & can't do enough to help. I only stayed a couple of days this visit, but definitely will stay here next trip. Cheap laundry service next door, quiet relaxed bars & restaurants in the same street. The one on the corner to main street does excellent Thai seafood & curries as well as western food. The pool & spa whilst being moderate in size seemed more than adequate for the famalies that were there when I stayed.
Rooms are generous size, & clean with good airconditioning. Bathroom has all required including stand-up shower. Shower curtain could be mounted better but does what is required.

Room Tip: Don't worry about the room, as there are no views to be enjoyed from this property. You are stay...

We found this place to be very good . It was located close to main areas of Patong and was very well priced . For what you pay , you get well maintained accommodation , pool and breakfast . Breakfast is very simple . Juice , endless tea , coffee & toast . A choice of omlette or eggs of some sort . It would have been nice to have cereal but we could not complain for the price . There was a small plate of pineapple & watermelon . There were also about 6 plates of salad ....beans , pumpkin and coleslaw type dish without dressing . Staff were very friendly . Nearly all rooms look across a narrow alley onto another hotel , so we could not open the curtains as there was no privacy . We stayed 3 nights and it was good for somewhere to sleep at a good price . I did enjoy going to our next hotel and being able open the curtains and have some light into the room . It was our choice to keep the curtains closed . I think there is about 9 rooms that look across a building block . They would be the pick of the rooms , with being able to look out to the mountains . Unfortunately there is development on that block of land , so that view will also be gone in the next couple of months . For somewhere cheap , a simple breakfast , a pool with close proximity to Bangla Rd , beach and Jungceylon shopping , this place is great . We booked 2 nights on Agoda.com for AUD28 per night . When we arrived , we decided to stay another night . the hotel direct price was more expensive , so we booked another night on the Agoda website and emailed the confirmation to the hotel . They were fine with that and when I mentioned Agoda , they said , Yes , it was cheaper to book on line with Agoda . Originally , we booked about 6 weeks in advance for our first 2 nights on wotif.com and asked for a double bed . When we arrived at 1.30am , they said they only had twin beds . We were too tired to worry . Again ....when it is reasonably priced , we could not complain .

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view and email in advance to confirm your booking and bedding type . I could not...

Stayed for 6 nights. Arrived at 3am in the morning - very dark outside, not very lit up. Helpful staff, English wasn't great. Room was ok, breakfast disappointing, we ate out every day. Free Internet & great location.
