First of all i would like to say that this property is 5 star rating in my view. I stayed with my wife and 3 yr old daughter at Graceland from 20 Jan'14 to 24 jan'14. After we had booked the property i read some reviews that really scared me and almost made me think of cancelling. Hey people...please do not go by the bad reviews that you come across for this property on tripadvisor. I found the resort Top Notch and with all the luxury of a top 5 star hotel. We stayed at the sunset wing and our room was on the 2nd floor. It was a huge room with twin king size beds and almost made me tired walking from the bathroom to the balcony at times. The bathroom was the cleanest as it can be and it was a delight taking a bath in the shower or the tub. There was construction going on next door to the resort but Hey, its no fault of Graceland that someone else is building a resort right next to theirs. The resort has unbelievable number of pools of never ending lengths which is a good thing as having a full house means everyone gets enough space to enjoy a swim. The kiddie pools are also spread out at intervals with the main pools ensuring your child is always in your vision while you enjoy your swim. Let me also speak in defence of the staff and the service. The hotel has its policies in place and if you understand that then you can have a most enjoyable stay. The staff is helpful and definitely language barriers cause some misunderstandings but hey, we are in their country as guests and least we can do is try to explain to them our needs and they will comply gladly. The location is so ideal that its away from the hustle bustle and yet a walking distance from the hub of activity. We found a wonderful Indian restaurant just a 3minute walk behind the resort to satisfy our craving for home food and yet we found an equally wonderful beach side shack right opposite the front side of the resort to cater to our taste for thai food. With a 7-11 nearby and affordable two wheeler for hire right inside the resort...all i can say is that all our needs and desires were well taken care off. The most wonderful part was the pricing of fresh ice cream cones(60BH for a huge single scoop) made in front of you in the main lobby and the delicious pancakes(50BH) made fresh...both items are available from 2-4 pm in the main lobby. As for the overcrowded breakfast complaints that i read about....do not believe it. We had breakfast every single day in the Bualuang restaurant which was almost half empty every day.The sunset restaurant is chosen by most guests and thats the reason for the overcrowding. The breakfast is a fabulous spread and the one thing i found lacking in even 5 star hotels like Hilton and TAJ...fresh juice counter with three juicers and fresh fruit beside each juicer...make your own fresh juice!! These are some of the touches that makes Graceland stand out from the rest.We did not fall sick a single day of our stay nor did we notice anyone else in the resort looking sick. All i can say is that maybe the people who commented about sickness have a tendency to drink water from the tap..like in Europe. I am sure if they stuck to bottled water they would be fine, as i think the hygiene of the resort was as good as any 5 star that i have stayed across the world. Definitely on my list for a revisit.
