Positives
* Resort situated overlooking Patong beach, within 10 minute walk of restaurants, markets and nightlife.
* Free choice of drink at bar provided on arrival.
* Aquarium in hotel lobby with sharks makes for interesting viewing.
* Breakfast - much variety of foods. Pastries fantastic.
* 2 pools on grounds - lower pool more for children, Sky pool overlooking ocean, minimal beach recliners to cater for guests - difficult to obtain a chair even in low season.
* Bowling alley on premises for wet weather entertainment.
* Gym for the fitness fanatic.

Negatives
* Hotel very large, impersonal despite friendly staff and tourist oriented (tour desks everywhere), breakfast time very busy with guests.
* Older looking rooms, lift very dowdy looking and dark, bathroom needed renovating - taps sticking out of the wall.
* Room overlooked the parking lot, ask for a room with garden view/pool or ocean view at a high level.
* Internet available but at a cost.
* Resort needs organised activities to cater for children and no tennis court.

I see this resort as more suitable for families, not an overly romantic venue for couples. Phuket compared to other parts of Thailand is very tourist oriented and expensive. If you want to see the real Thailand, go to Chiang Mai and travel the country side to Chiang Rai and the Burma border.

There were some really good aspects to this hotel such as our (second) room being spacious; bedding and towels really clean and changed regularly; two good sized swimming pools (the sky pool tended to be frequented mainly by adults and was the quieter of the two); near a number of small bars and eating places but only a 10-15 min walk to the livelier nightlife if you wanted it; there was a really good aquarium in hotel lobby which contained a couple of sharks.
There were some aspects of the hotel which were not as good: breakfast food never hot; reception staff gave the impression they had a very limited grasp of english so it was really difficult getting information from them ( thank goodness for Peter our Asia Destination Rep); I also did not like the fact that upon arrival at the hotel at 10.30pm we were asked for 2,000bht or they would swipe my credit card. Our holiday had been prebooked via a travel agent , we had not just walked in off the street, so why did they need a "deposit ". We had to change rooms after the first night as we were in a ground floor garden facing room and woke up to find ants crawling all over our bed and along the floor. We found we had been bitten several times. We spoke to reception who did not appear to understand what we were saying even though we showed them the bites. Luckily one of the workers employed to take bags to the rooms etc spoke perfect English and explained our problem to reception. They sent housekeeping to our room with an ant spray. When we returned to the room after breakfast about 40 mins later the ants were back, Peter the Asia Destination Rep spoke to them and arranged that they move us to an upper floor room. He said that the bites were ants not mosquito. No problem with the second room and no sign of insects.

Overall I would say this is a reasonable hotel but I feel the only thing that makes it 4 star are the size of the hotel and grounds, and the swimming pools. we have stayed in 3 star hotels in Thailand which were just as clean, were situated right on the beach, having staff who went out of their way to give you the famous Thai hospitality, at a lesser cost.

Room Tip: ask for an upper floor room.

We stayed at Gracelands from the 18th-28th May 2011.
We stayed with our friends Aged between 21-23.
We were concerned after reading reviews on the internet but i can say we were very pleasantly surprised.
We were so happy,
Staff were lovely and the locals.
Rooms were spotless and large, had a beautiful view of the pool and beach! Always cleaned every morning including our bath-toilet-shower and sink scrubbed!
We had conjoined rooms with internal doors which was very good with our friends room.
Pool was great very big and lots of space to lay around.
Morning buffet was also very good- great variety of food.
Only tip is to eat and drink outside of the resort and also your washing it's much cheaper.
It's about a 10 minute walk from Bangla Road which is good; it's nice to get away from the hustle to a cleaner and quieter area of Patong.
We cannot fault this resort!!!
Would stay there again when we return.

Stayed at this hotel for a few nights, with husband and family.

Upon arriving the hotel looked stunning, clean and inviting but the rooms were not the same. The rooms were very musty and old looking. Bcoz of the strong odour it was very difficult to sleep.

Apart from the Main Lobby, the Resort feels like it is very run down. The pool was ok but the layout was poor and it felt like everyone was on top of each other.

Breakfast was great and so was the buffet dinner on offer. I recommend the Seafood dinner!

We enjoyed the bowling alley that was open till late. Great for familys with children.

Was great to be opposite the beach but i found the overall location to be poor.

If your looking for more of a resort style hotel, i would highly recommend Merlin Beach Resort. The prices are good and it has a great layout.

I have just returned from our fabulous holiday in Phuket. We were on holiday with another family (both 2 children). We found the Graceland to be a lovely place with children entertained by the two beautiful pools, bowling, etc... we didn't even have time to use the kids club room. Our rooms were lovely and cleaned daily, airconditioning working great! (just what you need after a day of shopping or sightseeing. We are happy we booked this time of the year as we found out from locals by coming in June (low season) it is much cheaper and cooler. The hotel staff were friendly obviously there is a language barrier but if you need anything they are only to helpful. May need a bit of an upgrade with rooms (example tv older style and no videos in rooms) but you can hire a video player for 100baht per day if you need to. Internet service great upstairs. We were lucky to have encountered Mr Sun/Mr Wutt outside the front of hotel their taxi service and tour guides are cheaper and they are very lovely people they even took us to local places to have lunch/dinner (ex 9 people including driver local thai food for $38Aus). Eden Bungalows at the side of hotel through gate have a great laundry service and cheap. Little mini mart always had something for kids. Thip Coffee makes a great coffee (Caffe Latte and the have wii fi services aswell). If you follow that road down and turn right money changes give you a better rate than hotel. Places to go for dinner - NICKS HANDLEBARS (GREAT MEALS, KIDS WILL LOVE IT ALSO MEAT COMES FROM NZ), SAVOUY SEAFOOD, HARD ROCK CAFE GREAT FOR A NIGHT OUT AS THEY HAVE A BAND PLAYING AND A MUST IS TO GO TO PHI PHI ISLAND WHAT A PARADISE!!! we had a great time at Graceland and in Phuket and will be back next year for sure.

Got to the hotel straight from BKK and already when waited for check in noticed the old and unmaintaned lobby. Dirty and ugly.
After we got our "De-Lux" rooms , we hoped that our first impression whould change but as soon as we got out of the elevator and saw the dirty floor our hopes vanished.
We agreed the rooms were not innovated for over 20 years, toilets not functioning well, ancient and and uncomfortable beds, everything was O L D. and our delux view was to a cemetary and hotel paking area...Awful
The guy who carried our luggage kept on ringing our bell for tips after we didnt tip him when he started being rude.
Have I mentioned it was expensive comparing to the Marriott??
