A bit on the nose

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 17, 2013via mobile
Unfortunately we stayed here after beautiful Krabi. This was certainly a lower budget hotel and you get what you pay for. Three towers surround the pool which makes it quite echoey. We had a pool view room on the fourth floor and it was quite loud. Everything is neat and tidy and relatively clean however the raw sewage smell outside relates to a smell that also comes back up the pipes and stinks out the bathroom.
Leave the bathroom open and ventilate with the balcony door is highly recommended.
We are pretty self sufficient when we travel and are not high maintenance on the staff. Having said that, the staff were untrained and didn't follow up on things which was a tad annoying.
The location is fantastic but if you can, stay at the Holiday Inn.

Good Location since in Patong there are no privet beaches, this one is across the road 3 minute walk from the center of the hotel. good rooms had a few problems when we checked in but they were all fixed, Staff was really helpful. we got an upgrade and the rest of the stay was wonderful. breakfast is good with an ocean view. close by to Bangala Road ( the main street for the night life ) and good places to eat near by. Massages all over and close by to the hotel. Pool is great; serving Mai Tai in a pineapple and coconuts.

No Fitness Center

Room tip: they have a few rooms with no windows ( yes ! ) not too bad I got them in a great deal for this kind of a hotel on booking.com or Agoda.com prices for walkings are a little high for what they offer.

Great location in central Patong. Right across the street from the beach and in the midst of the entertainment district. We had two rooms for a family of 5. Kids loved the swimming pool. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Large and airy atrium lobby. Breakfast was good.

My issues with the hotel are of the minor irritation sort. The free wifi was slow (but that seems to be the case even in 5 star hotels where you pay for it). The drains in the bathroom were quite slow in both rooms (but otherwise were adequate).

We did not like the concierge service at all. Getting a straight answer on basic questions like where is a good place to snorkle was impossible. The travel desk was nearly useless and simply a place to hand out brochures. And amazingly they will not call a taxi for you - instead they will only use a car service that has a 100% markup on the normal rates with an hour advance notice. We had to lug out our suitcases to the street and find a taxi which at 700 AM to catch our flight was surprising hard.

There are a number of open air restaurants with full band in Patong and Baan Lamai is one of them serving seafood, western food and Thaifood. A full band with 2 female singers. Decor is nice. Chairs are comfortable. Having Thai food last night which is not bad at all and the singing is good.

On the beachfront with many external Restaurants Bars and Shops
We have also stayed at quieter Kamala Beach and Up market very quiet Mai Kao Beach but we found the vibrancy of Patong Beach staying at the Baan Laimai Beach Resort not to be missed.
The upgrade to a quiet room 5th floor at the back entrance to the hotel was very convenient for access to everything outside the hotel
The swimming pool and swimming bar was OK as long as you got a sun bed early
The bedroom was a good size with a large bed
As we were there for only a short stay we didn't have time to use many of the hotel facilities
Although the staff were very helpful and friendly there was some mix up and they didn't arrange for us to be collected from the airport as requested on our booking and left us running around at the airport, using pay phones and trying to find out what was happening. In the end we took the general Shuttle to the hotel
All in all ENJOY
Get the hotel to confirm airport pickup before you leave on your hols

Room tip: High at back of the hotel RHS of the main entrance . I think its the south side for a quite room

Hello so I read all the reviews and looked at the photos that were posted for this hotel. I would like to say that this place is under heavy renovations and at the moment if you are not in a NEWLY RENOVATED ROOM (which sadly nobody really mentions on the reviews here) you might be stuck with a tube tv from 1988 and a bad shower and the "feel" of a motel on the side of a highway. Please make sure you know that alot of the photos posted here are pics of the newly renovated room. We opt for the Deluxe Room and it said there was 2 double beds available (this does no exist). Our stay was for a total of 5 nights 3 ADULTS, we changed rooms 2 times. 1st room was okay (newer style renovated room) but it was facing construction and nasty disgusting view of an old building. 2nd room was closer to the pool end and the staff offered us 1 KEY (not a room card) for 3 people??? The shower looked like a torture device and didnt work well. This room only had 2 single beds they brought in a child size bed for 12yr old and the TV was a tube tv from 1988 something a garage sale wouldn't even bother putting in their "free" bin. The style of the room is none of the photos taken. Please be aware there are "old" rooms and newly renovated ones which are on the majority of the photos you see given by the reviews here. The 2 rooms I got switched to were old style. The staff here barely knows how to speak English and if you need something for your room "goodluck". Overall, I would NOT ever return or recommend this hotel to anybody. Sadly I don't have any photos to show of the rooms that i had :(

Room tip: Make sure you get a newly renovated room BUT you DO have to pay for this a "Superior or Deluxe" will get you a motel 6 style room with a tube tv.
