“Great upgrade!”
Reviewed August 24, 2011

My boyfriend and I traveled to Thailand in January and we were originally booked at the hotel next door (can't remember the name of it) when we first got there we were a bit annoyed as we had to wait for a while trying to check in since something got screwed up along the way.. well, after an hour or so of waiting and being exhausted, they finally told us there were no rooms left in the hotel we booked, so they were putting us in the hotel next door, the baan lamai! We got to our room and.. WOW!! We were put in a room directly connected to the pool, we literally opened our slider and there was a small patio and water.. It was amazing! The room was clean and spacious, and the location of the hotel is perfect.. right across from the beach and in the center of the action. I saw in another review that someone was upset it wasn't on the beach, just please note.. there are no hotels on the beach in this area.. they are all right across the road. It is not a far walk by any means. If you've been to south beach Miami, its similar to that. The only thing on the beach side of hte road is.. well.. sand!

Loved this hotel. So close to nightlife, central for tour pick ups, easy to get to nearby beaches, pool beautiful complete with swim up bar and amazing (always 2 for 1) cocktails. As long as you ae quiet and sensible pool access at any hour, Listen to the nightly band, watch nightly fireworks and lanterns float up into the sky and watch the waves at the beach all from our balcony. I mss that balcony! Beakfast great best egg cook ever, restaurant great staff friendly and have a bit of a joke with you which is good. In fact our hotel restaurant was packed every night compared to the other hoels on the front road. Clean and rooms very nice. Was only one computer for everyone but guess mostpeople have i phones these days anyway. Construction happening will be a bloody big place when finished! But for some reason he noise never bothered me. It's asia, was not expecting to hear a pin drop. Its Patong afterall if you want silence Patong is prob not the right area for you. Just loved it can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We had pool facing room with balcony and could see everything going on was geat.

We paid for a pool access room and got downgraded (at our cost) to a deluxe room with no window. There was a fountain in the bathroom which wasnt working so left a stagnant pool of water in the bottom of it. The rest of the stay was good. Nice pool and pool bar, close to Bangla road but not too close.

If you stay here you have to try the "Surf 'n' Turf" it's the best steak I've ever had. Though the price is comparable to western prices. 750B

We had a great stay, it was as advertised, the best location and we had pool access rooms, which made us feel special. The staff were nice, and the restaurant had a great menu, everything we had was cooked to perfection, thanks chef. Our favourite ... the buffet breakfast & egg station, which was worth getting up for, and since Aust has been short on bananas, we were greedy for them. The evening band was great, loved it, those girls sure know how to sing! Just between you & me, you could go to this hotel and not have to go past the end of the street, it's all within walking distance. But be advised they are hard working in Thailand, so if you like sleeping in, wait till the reno is finished because the jackhammers & grinders start at 8am 7days a week, and don't stop till 5.30. But if you want a quiet holiday, you wouldn't go to Patong, we liked seeing it come together, so will definately go back when it's done. (looks like they're improving wheelchair access, while adding 2 new entry's and 5 levels, plus one underneath, and a new family-size-room wing). Free mini-bar provided bottled water & enough drinks for us every day, other than the drinks in pineapples at the swim up bar.

Room Tip: if you like swimming all day, pay for pool access rooms - remember it's everyone's pool, not...

We found Baan Laimai a beautiful resort in a perfect location at Patong Beach. The rooms were clean. Just across the road from the beach and markets within easy walking.
Look out for their specials they have great deals for longer stays.

I recently stayed at the Baan Lamai after trying a hotel previously and was pleased with the choice. It is right on the beach and if you ask for the right room you will get a beautiful view of the sunset and Patong. The rooms are large with everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay including freezing aircon. The only negatives for this hotel was that there was 1 internet terminal and there is no WiFi which it states it does have. The receptionist laughed when I asked for a password as she said I can try if I want but no luck. Not really a problem as you don't go to Thailand for the internet but it would of been good for the option. Also the showers have trouble keeping either hot or cold which was strange. The staff are great and the bar has 2 for 1 cocktails all day everyday. They are currently doing some construction work on part of the hotel so quite noisy from 9am to 3pm

Room Tip: 6th floor close to beach for a good view

Our 5 day stay at the Baan Laimai Beach Resort was a wonderful one and we were both quite happy! It was a clean establishment, with friendly staff and wonderful service. Located right on Patong Beach, we were located on the main beach and minutes of walking to all shopping kiosks, massage parlours, bars and even to Bang La road. The food is delicious here, with an extensive menu which includes delicious, fresh seafood, and the breakfasts offered have a generous spread. The room was cleaned thoroughly and on a daily basis and if we needed anything (extra water, towels, etc), we could simply call the front desk and it would be delivered almost immediately. Although we didn't hang out at our hotel in the evenings, the live band playing was quite good and seemed to have the guests jamming! Staff was always warm and welcoming with smiles and very helpful. The only thing that wasn't a plus was that we didn't have a balcony, or windows to open, but I guess that can be requested upon booking. Also, the shower draining system wasn't the best and would leave a nice-sized puddle of water on the bathroom floor! Other than those 2 items, I would definitely consider staying at Baan Laimai Beach Resort again, based on our first experience! A friendly reminder: If needing a taxi to get to the airport, either have the hotel call you one in advance, OR get one on the street EARLIER! We found that it wasn't so easy to grab a taxi as in our previous city, Bangkok, where they are everywhere!
