“Peace and Tranquility from the hustle and bustle”

Travelled to Banthai on a Virgin holiday flying with Thai Air which was a very pleasant experience. Found Thai Air very good on all aspects and the agent in Thailand for Virgin, Pacific World provided an excellent service, with transfer to and from the hotel in air conditioned limo just for the two of us, and even checked us in for return flight avoiding the queues, all this on a standard booking, so well done Virgin.
Check in at the hotel was very efficient and our request for a double bed as opposed to twins was granted with no problem. We were escorted to our room and everything explained adequately. We had a superior room and were on the top 4th floor right at the end with a lovely view over the pool. All room facilities were good and excellent maid service, and evening turn down and room sprayed each night for insects. We found the room very quiet and the air-con worked well, which was much needed.
The pools, of which there are three were very relaxing and we always found sunbeds, although some people seemed to think they had the right to reserve beds for the time they were there by fixing their towels to the beds with bungee bands. I think these were people staying in the ground floor deluxe rooms. However as stated we didn,t have any problems as we alternated between beach and pool and going out and about.
We found the drinks very expensive at the hotel, at least twice the price of outside bars, but found this to be the norm amongst the beachfront hotels,as they add 10% service and 7% tax to everything, so we tended to use the side street restaurants, which were very good and a lot cheaper. It,s a shame the Banthai don,t make their bar and restaurant prices more realistic as they are never busy and the restaurant looks very nice.
Found Patong very expensive in general having been told Thailand was cheap, but I think the exchange rate didn,t help; we were getting 48 bahts to the pound which made a bottle of local singha beer £1.50 to £3.00 depending where you drink, and a meal ranged from £20 to £40 with drinks. Patong is a very lively place and never stops, so returning to the hotel was Instant Karma!
The breakfast room at the hotel is excellent and caters for all nationalities, with cereal, fruit, juices and smoothies, eggs cooked to order, bacon, beans etc, many dishes we didn,t fancy, cold meats and cheeses, even suchi, and we were always greeted at the door by a lovely thai girl in traditional dress and a smile to match; Sawasdee!!
Overall a lovely hotel with excellent service and a tranquil setting amongst the hustle of Patong beach.

When we arrived we were greeted with a cold towel and drink and taken to an air conditioned room to fill out all necessary paper work (taking all of 10 minutes!). When we got to our room, we had a swan made out of towels on our bed as we were going to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversay there - what a surprise, all the staff congratulated us, which was nice. Jakur (Kai) that worked in the pool bar and the lovely Thai lady were great - so helpful and they remembered what we drank (I don't know if that was a good sign or bad sign - hahaha). The Port staff are just wonderful and just as friendly - I already miss them, oh and food was great too! Breakfast was great - the Egg man remembered how we liked our omelletes! The only fault was when we were checking out we had a very rude lady that was on reception and who spoke little Thai - that spoilt it!!! We can't wait to go back. Spa was expensive, try the massage places on the beach - they are FANTASTIC!!!

This was out second trip to Phuket but first time staying at the Banthai. This was a great hotel in every way...offered welcome drink and cool towel after long trip and check in was easy. Check in staff ok but not as great as the rest of the hotel staff who are super friendly and helpful...great pool bars and Jump looked after us wonderfully at our pool bar. The room was clean and neat - basic but had everything you needed. The location is fantastic - can't get any better. Not many children at this resort which is good if you are on a couples holiday like we were. Don't need to take towels as all provided as well as beach bag, robes and thongs. We will definately be going back again. Tour prices not negotiable at the hotel tour desk...cheaper to book with one of the tour operators on the street as they are negotiable - thai boxing was fantastic, Raya island beautiful and Simon Caberet very average.

I always love staying at this hotel. Looking at previews reviews people often complain about the rooms.. To be honest, I like the rooms, whilst they havent been updated for a while everything is in great condition and the rooms look nice!! A little cramped for space but what do you expect for the price? The pools are sensational as is the balcony. Location of the hotel couldnt be better and will continue to always stay here! Staff dont speak much English and arent too helpful, but hey, it is Thailand! My thai speaking skills are worse than their English speaking skills!
Breakfast is lovely with a wide selection. I recommend this hotel to anyone going there and the great thing is that the Russian tourists havent over run this hotel yet, the moment they do, I stop coming.

Overall, the hotel staff should learn smiling and the way to acknowledge the customers. Those on the front desk even avoid an eye-contact with customers passing-by. We have never experienced the same in other hotels in Thailand. The room is too small and no cosy sofa, table or chair therein. No free Wi Fi for customers. The TV set can be more modern and easy to operate. The air-conditioner is noisy enough to affect your sleeping quality .....

Llocation of the hotel is good, being close to the beach. This hotel has lots of shortcoming. Room is old, TV is old, furniture is old. Breakfast is barely acceptable. At night it is very noisy. Not only becauser of the firework, but also the band playing a hundred yards away from the hotel. So don't go to bed before 1 or 2 am if you want to have a good sleep. The hotel do offer a free bus to the city but it stop at a odd place not closing to any shopping center or restaurants.

My partner and I made our first trip to Thailand, our first trip overseas together. Not knowing the hotels and the places can be a very daunting experience. We spoke to a few family and friends and got their opinion, but when you read the reviews, some are not too good. Well we left it in the hands of our travel agent and wow, she made the greatest choice for us. The staff are very friendly, its quiet, but yet you are still amongst all the liveliness of the night life. Its not too far to walk to do your shopping and if there is any question that you have there is someone too help. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we are going to be planning another trip next year and will definitely be staying at the same spot again.
