We spent two weeks in Phuket for Christmas and loved the Banthai. We have previously stayed at Impiana Cabana(once), Patong Merlin(twice) and Club Andaman Beach Resort (three times) and thought the Banthai far better than any of these. Check-in was simple and friendly. We had a deluxe pool room which is a few steps to the pool. My parents, children and friends had superior rooms (second, third and fourth floors). Rooms were exactly the same however deluxe has a verandah instead of a balcony, a flat screen tv on wall with free internet access and much nicer towels. This hotel has three wings each with its own pool. Pool A is private and quiet as is Pool C. Pool B however isn't as private as people have to walk through the middle of it to get to Pool C. We were in Wing C and tried to walk the long way around if possible. We never had trouble finding a lounge. The room is reasonably modern (by Thai standards) with a huge king size bed and a day bed. Bathroom vanity (sink and drawers) is outside the bathroom which is great. One person can be using bathroom while the other is doing hair/make-up. Unusual but we liked it. Bathroom was a bit daggy looking - needed new tiling but the water pressure was great and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was amazing - honestly if you couldn't find something to eat here there would be something wrong with you. The egg chef could speak 8 languages and remembered how you liked your eggs. They even had great coffee machines. The Breakfast room was lovely too - plently of room for everyone and you could sit inside or outside. Some mornings we went to breakfast at 8.30am and got kicked out at 10.45 (it was so nice sitting around with family/friends). We NEVER eat at hotels (other than breakfast) but decided to eat at the Port restaurant at front of hotel on Christmas night (for convenience) and didn' t like it. The music was too loud, food was too expensive and service was slow. I only found three minor faults 1. the chairs outside the deluxe rooms are very uncomfortable and if you lean back the back of it moves and pushes against the sliding door so noone can go in/out of room unless you sit up and pull the cushion out of the way. 2. the front desk staff struggle with English at times. Once they understand what you want they are very quick and efficient but getting the message across sometimes took a bit of effort. This didn't bother me too much as we are in THEIR country. 3. I found the pool too cold. It didn't bother the blokes but none of the women would get in as it was too cold. Like I said - these faults were minor and didn't detract from our holiday at all. Like other reviewers have said, the location of this hotel is fantastic - right in the middle of everything but peaceful once you're inside. Its also a bit more modern than a lot of Thai hotel rooms. This hotel is lovely, the staff very friendly and helpful (especially housekeeping and pool staff) and I definitely recommend it.
