Description: We are pleased to announce that, on the 2nd October 2016, we opened a second 'Halfway Inn' in the grounds of The Hill Resort, Patong, which is 400 metres past Simon Cabaret on the left hand side of the road heading South towards Karon, directly opposite PS Hill Resort. To avoid confusion the new place is known as 'Halfway Inn - The Hill Resort' on Facebook and the old place is known as 'Halfway Inn Bar, Patong'. The indoor covered restaurant has a very traditional Thai theme with 10 individual 6 seater salas (bamboo huts) for 60 diners, 12 standard tables providing seating for 48 customers, and a central 'Bamboo Bar' with stools for around 20 punters. There is also a large sports bar area with 2 pool tables, 2 large screen TV's, a 2 metre wide projector screen and enough space for a 5 piece live band. Outside there are a further 3 salas with seating for 18 customers and what will be a covered BBQ sala. There is spacious off-road parking for up to 4 cars (or minibuses) and 30 motorbikes and easy access North (towards Phuket Town and Kamala) or South (towards Karon, Kata, Chalong and Rawai). There is also an access ramp for disabled customers at The Hill Resort reception steps (although, admittedly, it needs some improvement). Customers, old and new, will welcome the fact that we have paid attention to the few negative reviews we have received on TripAdvisor (and constructive criticism from our regulars). There is now much more space between different dining groups, excellent washroom facilities, and (optional) segregation between the restaurant and sports bar areas (in one half you can enjoy watching live sports while dining and listening to the music whereas the other area is a bit more private). There are also comfortable rooms available at The Hill Resort, which is currently being renovated, bookings can be made online or in person. Bed and Breakfast prices are reasonable, the pool and rainforest surroundings are very pleasant, with a swim up bar, jacuzzi pool and kids pool. Some of the rooms on the upper levels have views over Patong Bay. Nan is enthused by the fact that can now create her mouth-watering dishes from a very large, modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, the size of our existing restaurant / bar area in Soi Kepsap. We are both excited by the opportunities this new property offers and we trust that all our customers, old and new, will enjoy their visit here.

“Amazing culinary experience!”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

My boyfriend and I went there after reading about it on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. The place looks more like a sports bar than a restaurant, but don't be deceived! The chef is one of a kind and makes the most delicious food. The steamed fish with lemon and pepper is something that I have never tasted before - worth going all the way to Phuket for. My boyfriend ordered a green curry, which was also very tasty. A must go for anyone looking for amazing food in the vicinity of Patong beach! (We were also told that there is live music and barbecue every Sunday - we couldn't go but would have loved to check it out!). Highly recommend.

Hi Anksem

thanks for your complimentary review, and for your praiseworthy comments regarding Nan's food.

You are also right about the fact that the inside looks more like a Sports Bar than a Restaurant as we do show all the main Live Sports at the weekend such as AFL, NRL, Premier League, Formula 1, V8 Supercars, etc. Every night we also have a Killer Pool competition which means that everyone in the bar gets to meet everyone else whether they are in the game or not. The atmosphere is competitive but friendly and we get a lot of Expats coming here to socialise.

I would also like to inform prospective customers that we only do live music on special occasions such as Anniversaries, Weddings, Birthdays, etc, but our FREE BBQ's are also on Tuesdays and Thursdays (not just Sundays) and the bar is usually packed by 7 p.m. so come early to get a seat!!!

thanks again for your review

take care and see you next time

Dave, Nan, Joy and all the staff

Reviewed August 16, 2014 via mobile

From outside, we were no convinced to enter... But once inside The food was very good and the people very friendly. The advice of the owner regarding food and the activities to perform were very good (this is very valuable in Patong). This is definitely a place to come back!

“First Class Restaurant and Bar!”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

As a regular traveller to Thailand I can honestly say this is one of the best restaurants/bars I have visited. The management and staff make you feel part of the family whether you are a family, group or a solo traveller. I sampled many different dishes which were delicious especially the Thai food and 3 days a week they even have a free BBQ which is second to none! Miss this place out of your holiday you will miss out!

“The best meal I had in Thailand.”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

On my first night in Patong we went late at night to the halfway inn but it was closed so we we tried the opposite restaurant which was good. On the last night I passed alone for a quick dinner. I ordered the Tom Kha Goong and the pineapple rice, both was amazing and delicious. After two weeks in phuket and Bangkok. I can say it is the best tasting meal i had in Thailand. The owner welcomed me and we had a quick chat, i wish it has a bigger space and well organized restaurant rather than a small bar. Extremely recommended.

Hi Tamer

thank you for your complimentary review.

Apologies for not being open the first time you came. We had to close on August 12th because it was HRH Queen Sirikit of Thailand's birthday and no alcohol sales were permitted. We were also closed on August 13th as we took the opportunity to completely re-tile the floor in the bar and service area and we now have a completely new look more in keeping with a restaurant rather than a scruffy ex mini-mart.

Thank you for having the trust to come back and give our food a try, I am pleased that you enjoyed it and to have had the opportunity to meet a nice Egyptian gentleman.

best regards

Dave
