I got married at merlin beach resort in august 2010, and i have to say i was a stress free bride as the resort took care of everything. we didnt have to lift a finger and were free to spend our time with our 60+ friends and family that travelled with us. All of which stayed at the resort. They cannot be faulted in every aspect. The staff were fantastic, always there whenever a drink was needed. It is pretty amazing that all of the group went away saying it was the best place they had ever stayed. We travelled thailand on our honeymoon for 4 weeks, staying in very expensive and exclusive resort, but merlin beach was the only one we would return to. The resort is far enough out of town that you get away from all the hustle and bustle, but close enough to go down for hours everyday.
Merlin beach resort is definately a place we will return to time and time again, hopefully with kids in tow. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

We are first time overseas travellers and we have just come from 4 days in Bangkok and now in Phuket, we are staying in Merlin Beach Resort near Tri Trang beach. Let say for first impressions this place leaves you stunned. We were over whelmed by the reception we got when we arrived. To be greated by a a lovely rep. from reception and to be given a cold drink and towel to refreshen up with while you registered was great. We then was shown to our rooms which were pool access rooms. they blew us away as well. The room was spacious and room to put all your gear away. We then went for a look around and was surprised how big the place was. Three pool areas with accommodation at all. Really every thing to suit all types of holidayers. We enjoyed our stay there. would recommend it to anyone. we met several couples that have been there 4 or 5 times already. we are outside of Patong but its only a short tuk tuk ride to town. Breakfast there is buffet style but you can actually get them to cook your eggs the way you like them, or how omelet, scrambled etc. There is a beach at the back of the hotel which is nice to sit and watch the sun go down. the only downside is that the beach has a lot of coral so walking in the water with thongs or other water shoes would be recommended. to the left of the beach is two massage places. we went to the one that when you start walking up the steps to a lovely little restaurant called Little Tiger highly recomment. the girls at that massage place also do laundry as well. The Little Tiger restaurant is well let say don't go by its looks the food there is fantastic. recomment the shrimp cocktail. Anyway we totally enjoyed our stay at the Merlin. we hac a look at the one which is the sister to Merling Patong, vertually the sam set up but it is in the busy part of Patong. Shopping in Patong best to go at night time as during the day a bit hot. as most of the shops are under tin roofing. the is a shopping centre there call Janceloyn . HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

The Merlin was a breath of fresh air after spending a week in less than luxurious resorts travelling around Thailand the Merlin wasdefinitley what the doctor ordered.
Average prices for food and drink but super quality, great spa, awsome pool and exceptionally good service even for Thailand. All the elements of this reosrt come together to deliever a really plesant stay.
Busier than your average resort in low season so don't expect to be one of only a few by the pool - like eveyone else get up early and get your spot.
The bus service to Patong is free and a real benefit for geting in and out of town - only 5 minutes away but down a big hill so you won't want to walk.
Be aware however that the beach at this resort is full of rocks and no good for swimming.

I have been in travel all of my life and have stayed in some amazing resorts. Merlin Beach Resort is up there with the best. It is not the most luxurious however when it comes down to value for money....can't beat it!
The staff were exceptional...my 10 yo daughter got food poisoning (not from hotel) and ended up in hospital..I had tours booked and was overcome with panic not only from my daughter being sick in Thailand but not knowing how to liase with companies to change/cancel tours.
The customer liason "petari" was amazing. She handled everything for me...organised flowers in the room for my daughter when she returned from hospital! Unbelievable kindness and compassion. This is what you need in a holiday resort! The rooms are very comfortable, the restaurants great but then there is wonderful eating in so many places in Phuket (just watch the ice and fast food joints which aren't big on hygiene)!
Can't recommend Merlin Beach Resort enough!

Believe all the the good reviews you read about this resort, because it was absolutely
wonderfull. We stayed here for 8 nights in June with our 5 year old son, and we all loved
every minute of it. The pools are to die for. My son loved the kids pool with slide and also the beach is great for children, slow gradient, great for paddling during high tide and fantastic for exploring the rock pools during low tide. Trigger fish and crabs galore! The breakfast buffet is very good. Unfortunately limited options for vegetarians at restaurants at other times but I will gladly put up with this considering everything else was top notch. The distance to Patong (10 min) is not a problem there are allways tuktuks waiting across the road. Contrary to other advise Tuktuks can also bring you back to the resort. The food at the Little Tiger restaurant (on the left hand side of the beach) was great and we also tried the Windsulf Restaurant up the road which also didn't dissapoint. Make sure you turn left (up hill) along the road to get there.
Locals at the tri trang beach accross the road will try and steer you towards the restaurant of the Tri Trang beach resort on the beach itself. We will definately stay here
again. Highly recommended especially to families with children.

Stayed here for 1 week for family wedding, 20+ of us overall. Wedding was fantastic, well organised by hotel staff. We went for standard room, lucky enough to have an ocean view across the beach at the back of the resort to the ocean - most other rooms look out onto the 3 pools. Roomw as cleaned each day and was spotless. 3 pools all good, slightly different, 1 with swim up bar for drinks/snacks. The food was good, well stocked buffet each morning, restaurants and drinks etc were similar prices to Australia. If you wanted super cheap food then go into Patong or try the restaurant at back of resort up the steps. Was a more traditioanl Thai restaurant, separate to the Hotel so food was at bargain prices!. Within the resort we had very good service, the vast majority of staff speak English pretty well. Was 5-10 Min Taxi/Tuk Tuk ride into Patong Beach, always plenty parked out front of the resort, and all at the same fixed price. Only downfall for us was the gym was small, eg 1 treadmill, 2 bikes, and weights bench etc. I think they are building a new gym at some stage though. All in all a top place to stay, kid friendly, relaxing place to stay.
