This place is absolutely beautiful. Ok it is a 5 minute tuk tuk ride over the hill from Patong, but would rate in the top 2 resorts at Patong with the newly built Holiday Inn and the tuk tuk ride is very affordable and a great experience.

It is a great place to relax, with 3 major pools (one with a friendly swim up bar) and its very own beach. Beware however of this as in high tide you cannot see the rocks that cover this beach. Wait until low tide to assess this. However if you walk out the front of the resort there is another beach within easy walking access and will have less than 10 people on the whole place. This is shallow and very safe. The white crabs are great to see when they scamper off.

The breakfast is usually included in the package and has plenty to offer. We found other meals reasonably affordable (not as cheap as some restaurants in Patong, but just as nice (if not better) andthey had a great selection. Prices vary depending on which of the 4 restaurants you eat at. The bar area of a night is a great place to relax and enjoy happy hour before the night out in town.

Tours are easy to organise from the resort and most companies will pick you up from the front door. Their prices are on par with the agents in Patong. They offer scuba diving lessons in their 2nd pool on selected days and also have other resort competitions including volleyball.

Overall we were extremely pleased with this resort and would not want to stay anywhere else when visiting the area. With the resort not being in the center of town it means that the room rates are great, and as mentioned before the tuk tuk drivers constantly sit out the front waiting for the resorts guests, meaning Patong is only 5 minutes away! A+

Hello,

We stayed two weeks at Merlin Beach Resort, and really enjoyed our stay. We travelled with Tui and had a room at pool number one, but the blue village-concept didn´t disturb us at all. And the staff is very funny and nice at pool number one, much nicer than at the pool bar. I recommend to give a smile and two words at thai-language and you always get very nice service. it´s so strange to read about the rude service when we got so lovely service, and our kids were treated so nicely allways. Also the staff of blue village were great.
When booking this hotel you have to remember that there is nothing next to hotel, but for us it was the point. I would never like to live in the Patong, but it was nice to visit it in the evenings.
I think breakfast was good, not maybe exellent but good, rooms were big and clean, and I liked the relaxing atmosphere of hotel, I wouldn´t like to have that luxorious atmosphere, because then your don´t feel comfortable with kids. Pools and seaview are the best. If you are a couble and having a honeymoon I would also recommend pool number three with those poolaccess rooms but i wouldn´t go there with kids (it´s so silent there)and there´s no seaview at all from the pool, and no seawind! It´s very hot at daytime, so we loved to get some wind from the sea.
Spa was great, okey little bit more expencive than the ladies at the beach, but the service and atmosphere and also the treatment´s were just great. At least for Scandinavians and maybe also for Europeans the prices are ok. And about the prices at hotel, ofcourse they are higher than at the Patong, but that´s obvious, beacause it´s four star hotel, and hotel´s allways have higher prices than everybody else, so that´s nothing to wonder! We allways got really good Maitais and Pina Coladas
at pool number one, and if you are not ready to pay that much, take a cheaper hotel then...or go some where else, because Phuket is the most expencive place at Thailand.

Hi there, family of four came to this hotel, was very disappointed in everything. I researched our holiday for a year and thought this was the best place to stay , we had friends stay there last year and recommended it to us, but did tell us that it was not the best for location always having to get a tuk tuk to patong or Karon, the shuttle never at the right time. Rooms were O.K, breakfast was basic, kids was not looked after at all, I was extremely disappointed in the staff not very friendly and very hard to speak to no English at all. I was told before going that they have taken on Scandinavian holiday company blue village (like our Thompson’s) had moved in and taken over .I think if you were a couple wanting a quiet time book a pool access, they were far away from blue village .We started thinking that maybe we were being picky but spoke to allot of aussies and everyone was saying the same thing, luckily we spent our last 6nights at the Holiday Inn Heaven thank god this saved our holiday. P.S Pool bar staff very rude and make sure your bill is OK,I would say the pools were great but thats all they have 3 star in my mind.Lou

the best thing about this resort are the pools. Rooms are good, clean
and good size. Breakfast area was very crowded and no coffee served (you have to get is yourselve). tuk tuk to town is 200 bath one way (fixed price).

This is the second time that myself and my Partner have stayed at the Merlin Beach Resort. This is the first time I have returned to a resort and hotel and we enjoyed our holiday as much as the first stay. We previously stayed in 2004 and had just left the hotel on the way to the Airport when the tsunami hit. We did feel compelled to come back to see what differences the Tsunami had made. The hotel was just as great as it was the first time. The staff are helpful and the rooms are gorgeous, we paid a small amount more to upgrade the room which was well worth it if only for location within the hotel. There really is not much to do on an evening within the hotel, the band in the lobby bar is something of an aquired taste and the drinks are over priced but with Patong so close you can escape and do your own thing. Patong does have something for everyone
with the pubs, bars and seedy joints or you can go somewhere a bit more up market if you go to the far end of Patong to Joe's Downstairs
and the Ban Rim Pa, fab Thai food, although quite pricey but gret for a treat. I would certainly recomend the Merlin Beach Resort, it was good to be so close to the action at Patong but be far away for it to be relaxing and peaceful in the day. The Seafood Restaurant up the hill by the side of the Hotel beach is also fab and very very cheap, worth the hike up the hill though it is very basic.
