My husband & I enjoyed the pool access room immensely for a 12 day escape in Phuket. Our room was quite spacious & the house keeping team did an awesome job. Only reservation that I had was the limited lunch menu items & the cost of the meals. We enjoyed (nearly daily) cocktails on the decking watching the sunsets at the Zea Bar. The running bill costs were accessible via the interactive TV. Wifi was free and connectivity easy from our room & around the resort with personal log ins provided. We opted to partake in a cocktail making class run by the resort and were the only two participants which was value for money making (&drinking) cocktails during the class. The happy hours were value for money also at the lobby bar with sufficient fans to circulate the air. The drawback was the lounge band playing music as if we were on an old people's cruise ship however we survived! The shuttle bus could have been run hourly to save the pain of the fixed price taxis service into Patong of AU $10 into the city each time we missed the two morning options or the later evening options but if you can find others in the resort that are heading into town then I would recommend that you share the fare! The pools were massive! We opted to go to the Family massage on the beach for our massages (300 baht for an hour)but also indulged on the last day in the resorts spa retreat - amazing but expensive. We also went to Family massage for our laundry too where the pricing was more reasonable. The private beach front was awesome to explore when the tide was out with rockpools with decent sized marine life and with the beach a spattering of crabs and hermit crabs. The concierge was helpful, the tour desk lady was great in assisting us to top up our thai SIM card with credit. I changed money in the resort a couple of times and it wasn't too different in rate from in the city. It is 5-10 minutes out of town and the buffet breakfast a little repetitive and again slightly disappointing menu options with higher costs but we understand that it is a resort in that aspect. I will definitely return with my kids as the location is perfect for families who want to stay a little removed from the hustle & bustle but are close enough to get there easily. Well done Merlin Beach Resort - I enjoyed my stay!

We’re currently staying at Merlin Beach. A 7 day visit, going home tomorrow evening. Our second visit – the last time was 3 years ago.
Overall the Merlin’s a really good place to stay. A great location on its own beach, great for families and out of the hurley burley of Patong, yet only a 10 minute Tuc Tuc ride to get right in to the thick of it. We enjoyed our first visit and recommended the hotel to our friends when we planned this current holiday with them.
Just two things irk me about this hotel:
Late checkout – our flight home tomorrow is at 10.20pm. The hotel checkout time is 12.00. The hotel certainly does not look like it’s overbooked at the moment, so we requested a 6.00pm checkout because of our evening flight. They will allow us to keep the room til 3.00pm, but if we want to checkout at 6.00 we’ll have to pay an additional 1,000THB. A nice goodwill gesture would be to allow us to stay an extra 3 hours without forcing us to pay more for the privilege.
Wifi - free wifi is only available in the hotel lobby, close to reception. If I wanted to use wifi in our room it would cost us an additional 1,000THB for the week. Unnecessary and gouging are two words that spring to mind. Each other hotel we have stayed at on Phuket - and Phi Phi – have free wifi throughout.
So, it’s sorry Merlin – next time we’re in this part of the world we won’t be staying with you again.

What a place, and hotel. Loved the fact that the resort is so beautiful, but the fact that it has its own private beach just 4 mins walk at front of the hotel. Love this place.
Patong was not fat at all, there are free shuttle buses which take you to the beach front and back until midnight, or u can catch a taxi which takes 5 mins and isnt that expensive

I recently planned a surprise trip for my wife & 2 young kids as a surprise for my wife's birthday. She has serious food allergies and the staff made an exceptional effort to ensure that all her dietry requirements were catered for and even went to the effort of making little laminated cards in Thai language so when we were out and about, we could show them to other food vendors/restaurants, which made the communication so easy for us (for a difficult issue).

I had planned a surprise dinner for my wife's birthday and all the bells and bling were made by the staff for the event. They had even managed to arrange fireworks with all required approvals from the local authority and what a memorable occassion we will never forget. The staff even entertained our 2 young children on the night with balloon blowing and even had a back up table for us (as we were out in the open) in case the weather turned bad.

Thank you so much to Surin and Pethari @ Merlin Beach Resort...I will be a loyal repeat customer and you made our family trip so enjoyable.

We stayed here for a week towards the end of July. We were with 3 other couples and all had ocean view rooms. The rooms were bright and clean with plenty of space. The bathroom in particular was a spacious lay out with a nice window opening feature to the main room. We ate in on several occasions and found both the quality of the food and the price to be very reasonable Just stay away from the wine. It must be taxed to the max because all wine over there is ridiculously expensive. $12 bottles in Aus are about $50 in Phuket. The Little Tiger restaurant is a great little spot on the beach out the front and up the hill a bit. Cheap as chips , good food and breath taking view. The best massages were out the front and turn right to the end of the beach It's called family massage and they were terrific for pedicure and manicure as well. The staff at the hotel are nothing short of fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. Hospitality staff in Oz need to go and see how well it can be done if you genuinely care. This resort is unusual in the fact we saw a wide age group that it appealed to. Young couples , young families and middle aged patrons. The resort pool is without doubt the best I've seen and is probably the reason all the young families don't intrude on those wanting a quieter holiday experience. Simply because of its vastness it enables people to spread out to a spot that suits. This is a great place and I highly recommend it to all discerning travelers.
