Horizon Patong Beach Resort & Spa

We stayed here for 11 days in Oct 2010 with a 10 month old baby, 6 year old and 8 year old and was very worried after reading all the reviews but I loved every bit of it. The family rooms a great and much better value than most of the other hotels. The staff were fantastic and couldnt get enough of the kids and were always happy to help, nothing was too much effort. Rooms were always spotless and aircon was icy cold. Breakfast was great with a huge variety. I have stayed at several other hotels in Patong previously and this was by far the best for the kids and families. There were lots of other Aussies at the hotel and its great to sit around the pool and get ideas from each other about what to do and where to go (and perhaps even what not to bother going to see). Security was very on the ball with all visitors but always friendly and happy to see you. Would definately stay here again!

I stayed at the horizon patong for 10 days with two other friends in May this year. We each had a room booked as we dont like listening to each other snore. This may have been the reason for the very frosty reception we recieved upon check in. Now I must state that whilst we do like to have a beer or two and enjoy ourselves, each of us is aged over 35 and each works in the hotel trade. So whilst we have a good time we are most respectful of others staying at the hotel and we understand how hotels operate.
I will start by saying the hotel ammenities were lovely. The room was spotless everyday, air conditioning was freezing cold (the way I love it), pool was fine, breakfast buffet was great and the location very hard to beat.
Which brings me to the negative. It would seem we were judged as trouble from the moment we were dropped off at the hotel due to the reasons stated above. Three single men in three seperate rooms.
As we approached the reception desk and well before we were given a "hello" or a "welcome to the Horizon Patong", we were told the charges for doing the wrong thing. As follows:
1. 3000 Thai Baht if we lost room key
2. 3000 Thai baht if we lost the safe key
3. 3000 Thai baht if we stain the sheets with tattoo ink
4. 3000 Thai baht if we bring a "guest" back to the hotel.
Now I dont mind being given this information, but having it told to us before a welcome was totally rude and quite frankly unacceptable. I have travelled alot arond the globe as a single traveller and have never been judged and labelled so rudelly as I wasd that day. If this hadnt been a pre paid booking, I would have walked away immediately. i was dreadfully insulted as were my travelling companions.
For this reason alone I will never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone else.

This hotel was amazing. It was hidden away and cheap and the staff were some of the best I've found anywhere! While the rooms weren't the best I've ever seen, they were clean and comfortable and the cleaning staff were amazing. The breakfast was wonderful, and those staff were lovely. Security were fabulous and friendly, and it really felt like a home away from home. Small massage place just out the front was great too- and meant you didnt have to go through being hassled on the street if all you wanted was a cheap massage! Also splurged and used the hotels massage facilities- and they were just beautiful and worth the higher cost. Would stay here again and again and again- was just a lovely hotel, not too close but not too far from the action with a beautiful atmosphere.

The hotel was wonderful. We stayed in a family room and it was so big that the kids could do laps. You have a little stove not that we used it kitchen and big fridge with lots of cupboards, two big queen beds and lounge and table. We had the ground floor near the kids club, which was small but the staff where excellent.

I would say that all the staff at the hotel where wonderful and really loved kids. The breakfast was good with lots of choices. The pool areas are good and you could always get a chair. The only thing about the pool was it was all one depth, and being a short, I had to stand on my toes. But it did have a small kids pool.

The location of the hotel was great and I would stay their again

Great hotel, in excellent location across from beach and watersports. The Horizon is not a big hotel and so the staff know you and you feel special. Beautiful rooms in tropical surroundings. 20 mins from Bangla Rd, and close to markets and restaurants.

Stayed in a superior room with my teenage daughter. Great size and we each had a double bed. Fantasticly large and very clean pools x 2, one with a swim up bar. Staff are very friendly.

All facilities you could ever want are located just outside the side entrance: maggage, shoppIng, tour desks, mini mart, restaurants, tailors and internet cafes.

Right across the road from the beach which is accessed via a laneway next to the restarant. 10 minutes walk to the main nightlife In Bangla Rd.

Only minor cons would be shower leaks badly and needs to be renovated, beds are very hard and internet is expensive.
