“Excellent Location!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Stayed mid January 2013 for 3 nights with my husband & teenage daughter in a Deluxe room. Perfectly located at the end of Patong just a 5-10 walk away. Cleverly set into the hillside giving it a private feel. Beautiful ocean views from anywhere in the resort...... pools, restaurants & bars. Every room has an ocean view as well. Not for the faint hearted though as there are quite a few stairs around the resort.....exercise? Lifts available around Foyer area. Worth mentioning at time of booking if you have a problem with stairs. Great service and the staff very friendly. Food mostly good but have had better. Mixed drinks & non-alcoholic drinks were disappointing.
The rollout bed provided for my daughter (165cm) wasn't quite long enough.
The beach directly in front of the resort was a bit dirty at times so can be disappointing if you like to swim in the ocean. A shuttle to a nearby beach is provided by the resort as an option.
Amari Coral Beach resort is definitely the best place to stay in Patong.

Room Tip: Higher floors quieter but access is mostly by stairs. Rooms closest to Breeze Spa have less stairs...

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights at the end of December 2012 (including New Years Eve). We chose this hotel because we stayed at the Amari in Ko Samui last year which we loved but we both agree that the Coral Beach is probably even better.

The hotel is in a beautiful location on its own private beach. We stayed in a Superior Room in the older part of the hotel but we were more than happy as were near enough on the beach and the interior was not dated at all.

The staff here are wonderful and the service was second to none.

The breakfast buffet was superb with a huge range of foods available.

We expected the New Years Eve gala buffet to be something special and we were not disappointed! The staff put in so much effort to make it a fantastic evening.

I agree with the other reviews which claim this is the best choice in Patong as it is within easy walking distance but far away enough to escape the madness.

Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but this did not make our stay any less enjoyable as the rooms, restaurants and amenities etc are all excellent.

If I were to return to Patong, I would not consider staying anywhere other than the Amari.

Our son was married on The Jetty at the Amari and we could not have asked for anything better. The setting was magical and the food and service impeccable. Our room was in the older part of the resort but probably the best area as no guests passing our door. Also close to the restaurants and pool. The resort is far enough away from the busy-ness of Patong but close enough to walk although we caught a Tuk Tuk back up the hill at a cost of 200bht . The staff were always friendly and more than willing to assist with any request. We did our research before booking so there were no surprises as to location, rooms or costs!

I tend to agree with a lot of what "Pstebbs" beneath has written although my scoring is slightly higher. I can't fault the hotel on our room cleanliness, the pier and social areas, it is however a very strange layout.

We arrived here after 4 days in Bangkok and it really was like a different Thailand. I feel that the hotels location is very good but it is linear in design and spread along a steep cliff. We upgraded to a luxury room which had recently been renovated so I have no real gripes about its quality. The main problem I have with the room is that it's supposed "sea view" has lots of trees blocking it (room 7302). The block is also a long way from reception and has lots and lots of steps in between, which if you had mobility issues would really be a problem.

Like the the previous reviewer I too am annoyed at the pricing both in the Hotel and Patong. In the hotel two tins of mango juice mixed with ice came to the equivalent of £7. People who have paid to come to this hotel can obviously afford these prices, but why should they have to? In town a can of Coke is 20 baht despite the tin having 12 baht written on the side of it. In Bangkok the street traders invariably always used the can price

It was our choice to come to Patong, but we can safely say that having seen it we won't return. It really is like a very a very seedy version of a British seaside resort but full of single men who are boxing outside of their weight with the Thai ladies.

Their is currently a fair bit of building work going on for the new stages of the hotel. In fairness it isn't really noticeable.

HANDY HINT
When I went to reception to enquire about the very expensive WIFI a young lad let slip that if i joined the Amari loyalty club I would get free WIFI for 5 days. Therefor my wife and I joined the club separately and got the free WIFI for both our IPads.

Room Tip: Block 7 is the best, however the top floor has a restricted view due to the trees they have planted...

I have just returned from staying at the Amari Coral and feel that it deserves a review as the reviews on here I do not feel are accurate. The area of Patong is similar to that of Magaluf or Benidorm, the hotel is situated a 5 minute walk from this, it is not secluded or tucked away as others have stated you can easily see and hear patong and patong beach from the hotel.

One of the major issues I had at this hotel was the prices of everything. On arrival we were told that WiFi in the rooms had to be paid for (everywhere else in Thailand it had been free) when we bought the Wifi it then didnt work. After complaining we got a free voucher for one day but again this didnt work.

When we were shown to our room we were shocked at how small the room is. When you sit on the toilet which is facing the shower your knees touch the glass. My partner is 6ft and had great difficulty using the bathroom. Another issue was the shower door was broken and wouldnt shut proper aswell as the toilet being blocked. When I asked the rude receptionists to move rooms they said we would have to pay an extra 14,000THB which works out around £305, which is absurd as the room clearly had faults.

The food is awful and extremly overpriced! The lunch area by the pool is ridiculously priced, we shared a margherita pizza, a banana milkshake and a bottle of sparking water and it came to over 1300THB which is a rip off! The service provided here is also extremly slow we had to wait over 35 minutes to receive a menu and then an extra hour for our food to arrive.

When we were checking out we were told we had to leave the room by 12.00 as the hotel is fully booked and needed the room so we were told we could use the shower room. When we asked to use the shower room we were given a dirty unmade guest room that someone had clearly just left with bed sheets unmade cigarette butts everywhere and tissues strewn all over the room, it was disgusting!

This hotel is not worth the money and it is certainly not one of the finer places to stay. I will definatley not be returning to this place.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe rooms rather than superior suite as they are a new building with more space and a...

Thanks for giving us your feedback and please accept my sincerest apologies for the disappointment you experienced.

We have just finished extensive renovation of our Deluxe Rooms this year and we will be doing the same for our Superior Rooms this year. I have passed on your comments about our Wi-Fi to our IT team. We will make sure that the service works well throughout the resort.

Please rest assured that I have shared your experiences with the remaining team and we will make it a priority to improve on the areas mentioned.

Once again, please accept my sincerest apologies for your disappointment. I hope you will give us the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel in the future. We will ensure that the experience lives up to your expectations.

Stunning location out od town overlooking the beach and also having its own beach also. Lots of steps though that elderly may struggle with as it is on the cliff face. No wi-fi in rooms, just in lobby but all in all a fantastic place to stay.
