My russian girlfriend and me had twice a dinner in the restaurant of that hotel : the gardens are really beautiful and even mosquitoes ate us , the food was not bad , but the dishes came to the table , pretty cold , but we were in vacation . What was not acceptable , was the behavior of that old and rude person who is , I think the big boss of the property : this man was shouting all over the restaurant and put a very bad atmosphere , both the 1st. time and the second night . Our table neighbors from AUSTRIA explained to us they were been stolen 1000 € at their arrival and the manager explained to them it was not very important because that was their vacation money : so, not very important . A reply very rude and completely stupid from the boss of an hotel . Because of that bad atmosphere and the insecurity , we felt , we never went again and refrained to have a reservation for next year . We feel they , only ,accept, german and austrian people , there .

The location of this hotel is great, close to the beach and lots of shopping/restaurants/convenience stores etc. The rooms are pretty basic, I'd say over priced for what you get. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, others were rude.... Overall it was "ok"... but I would probably not stay there again.

Stayed April 2012. For the price you pay, this hotel has everything. Paid approx £16 per night for a big double room with AC and frrsh towels. You also get breakfast every monring and the hotel itself is away from the main road and is peaceful and quiet. No bar service during the day but there is a 7/11 around the corner which sells everything at ridiculously low prices. There are various sizes of bungalows to stay in and while the inside is pretty basic, you do get everything you need. I am hopeful to return to Phuket next year and fully intend on staying in this hotel again

Pros:
We stayed at this hotel for 16 nights. It is a very quiet and relaxing hotel and you get the feeling of calmness due to it not being a high rise hotel with a typical hotel feeling. The service is excellent and the rooms are cleaned every day and fresh towels are provided every day. The pool is crystal clear and very relaxing especially late at night after walking for kilometres. 6 Minutes walk and you are on the beach. At night it is very quiet. Rooms are good value for money. Breakfast was included. Aircon in the room was excellent! Front desk staff and cleaners are the most friendly bunch of people I have met!

Cons:
Being mostly single storey within a big garden type landscape, mosquitos tend to be a problem at night so make sure you burn repellent sticks on your veranda at night. Breakfast started as a buffet. Very average and after a couple of days you do get tired of baked eggs, ham, bacon and toast. There are muesli and cereal available with yoghurt. Without notice the buffet breakfast was changed to order from a set menu. BAD change. The "set breakfast menu" is not worth the effort. Gone is your choice of what to dish up. Gone in the yoghurt. A HUGE DOWNFALL ON THE BREAKFAST MENU IS THE ABSENSE OF ANY CHEESE. The coffee is EXCELLENT. In the beginning the gardens looked untidy, but then I saw that the lawnmower was broken. This was sorted however and the next day the lawns were short and well kept.

TV reception is very poor BUT who watch TV in Phuket anyway!!! No electric kettle in the room but we requested one and problem was solved.

A plus for some and a minus for some: The average traveller that tend to stay here are 60 plus and older German speaking tourists. Us being in our 30s and 40s found this a blessing as the hotel tends to be calm and quiet. You do get the odd occasion where grumpy old men found a "true love" for the evening but overall this has no negative effect on the atmosphere. Flies during breakfast tends to become a hassle due to the open plan dining area. Maybe the fans could be set higher?

Would I stay here again: A definite YES! I went through all the room types available and could not found anything wrong from the Standard to Deluxe plus rooms. Staff are very very helpful. Booking out time is 12 noon. Our flight was only at 9:45 pm and we requested to leave our luggage at reception. To our surprise we were allowed to stay in our rooms until the evening so we still could have a refreshing shower before we left! This is SERVICE in capitals!

This hotel is in a great location, 5 mins to beach and only 15 mins to Bangla road. Was nice to leave the madness that is Patong and walk into quiet peaceful grounds. Grounds are nicely landscaped with the option of a pool if you do not want to go to the beach. Stayed in a room costing 1,500 bhat per night, including breakast. Breakfast had a good choice, only problem is that it is EXACTLY the same every day which is a problem for a long stay. Room was spacious and clean but old. TV and furniture functional but need to be replaced. Torn shower curtain in bathroom. Overall would have expected more for the price. Modern rooms are available for 2,000 bhat per night. Would stay here again just for the tranquility.

first of all I have to say we stayed there already 4 times so far in the past 10 years. for us it was the best hotel and location, maximum value for your money and NO reason to complain about anything. simple rooms but very clean with aircon, one time we stayed in Kata beach at Mum tri's Boathouse, the Hotel was excellent but would never go there again coz' of the posh style, huge cost of staying. we are a couple and love to be a part of the whole, this is 100% possible at the Austrian Garden Hotel. we always felt like a part of the hotel, nice funny pleasant staff, great manager (Stefan) and a superb tropical Garden inside the Hotel. Food is great too (dont know now with the new chef :-), breakfast is simple but there is everything you need once you wake up. (we managed this just a few times in our 3 weeks stay), even if we sleep longer, who cares, get up, order some light food for cheap $$$ and relax... this is a holiday !!! we always rent a bike from the hotel reception (oh), this bikes are always brand new and again very cheap we love to be out and see friends and check out new areas, which is still possible after all our visits. our favourite beach is the Tri Trang beach a bit after the Patong beach, there the thai beach guy sees us coming and prepares our favourite sunbeds plus our favourite beverage before we even arrive !!! again, this is a holiday !

best value for money and definitely a must for relaxes !

Room Tip: ask for the superior rooms, they cost a tiny little extra but for us it worked !!!
