“overcrowded and loud”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

the sea is not special, it is really overcrowded and there are too many longtail boats and boats for parasailng and other watersports that produce noise.

“Love it”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

We sit here all day every day and watch the people walk past. The water can be a little hit and miss but overall its really lovely. Pay 100 Baht for your sun lounge and make sure you tip them. We always went to "Oy" and the boys right across from the Banthai and they look great care of us.

“Weather was bad, but did try the jet skis”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

Weather wasn't great while we were there. Just started to rain once we got on to the jet ski's. The beach isn't dirty and looks decently maintained.

“Totally Entertaining!”
Reviewed January 26, 2014 via mobile

Having arrived at Patong Beach after a 30 minute bus ride from Phukett Town (30 Baht, 55p) we combed a very busy beach for some vacant beds. Ended up next to the paragliding bit and was soon approached by the bed attendant who charged us 400 Baht (£7.40) for 2 including beach towels, and an umbrella.
Very busy with lots of people watching entertainment.
You will not have time to relax as you will be approached by beach hawkers (lucky lucky men) every 30 seconds selling stuff that you will never need in 1000 years. Even the Thai massage "ladies" approach you promising "good" massage.
Patong attracts every walk of life and you just need to go with it. Even at the height of the days heat "ladyboys" will try to entice you into their bars and clubs.
Overweight, elderly men parade themselves with their Thai brides up and down the beach front.
This is a mad mad place to be, but well worth it.
Restaurants are in abundance and difficult to choose from. Most of the restaurants are run by the Indian community, but the food is good and relatively inexpensive.

Sun, Sand and the wander of clear water! We spent a week in a quiet and shaded sun lounge. A lovely little shaded area for some awesome Thai food and watching amazing cocktail drinks being made. What more can you ask for? We will be sure to come back soon!
