“Wasn't very impressed...”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

The beach seemed overcrowded (locals and tourists) and not very clean...

If you're looking for somewhere to sunbathe, then this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you're looking for a daytime walk or a great night out with entertainment, this will probably suit you. However, I preferred Bangla Road and Paradise Complex.

“In need of attention”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Patong beach is a very long curve of beautiful sand which has loads of sun lounges and umbrellas which you will certainly need as the sun and heat is intense. The sea is like a warm bath but not clean scummy is how I would describe it. Also stepped on some broken glass in the sea and the waters edge is littered with plastic bags and bottles. They need to start now to clean it up before it gets out of hand. The beachside Restaurants are cheap and offer good food, but do vary, quite a bit. There are always vendors approaching you with something to buy. But a simple no or a wave of your hand and they move on. If you get sun burn, DO have the aloe Vera treatment for 200 baht, as it give immediate and fantastic relief. You will feel like you have been slimmed for the 30 mins you have to wait before going in the sea to wash it off. But after that you feel great.

“Patong beach is overated”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

Kata beach or Karon beach is cleaner and much better, the water here is very dirty and mirky. Howevere Patong beach is where the action is, so if u like that that stay in this area, but please visit other beaches as there are clearly better ones

“Refreshing place to be”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Patong beach is the highlight of Phuket. Though it does not live to the expectation. In fact the island trips from Phuket to Phi Phi Island and James Bond Island should not be missed at any cost.
It is a tourist hot spot but is expensive. Everything is overpriced and at least twice as much as it should cost in Thailand. The overall energy of the area is refreshing and beautiful. Please don't look for anything there, just sit on the beach and enjoy the beauty around. It is a total waste of time to go shopping in Phuket. The Beach side is full of shacks serving mocktails and cocktails. Had "Sex on the beach" and "Caipriroska" both had a good flavor, not to mention that it was on the road side done by locals but still a good job. There were a lot of vendors serving Pancakes and for our Indian taste buds it was bland but for a change one should surly try one.
Patong beach is surly not to be missed but there is much more in waiting around Patong in Phuket that one should explore. And even if you don't know swimming, wear a life jacket and get down in the sea to do snorkeling. It was a lifetime experience for me and can assure anyone that it will be worth any risk.

“Beautiful beach”
Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Been to thus beach on many occasions I past two trips to Patong. I have never seen any rubbish that people speak of and the sun lounger vendors keep their part of the beach very clean. Good amenities and kids tried parasailing again this year. Great service for drinks, food etc. would highly recommend this gorgeous beach
