Long stretch of beach with all the usual seaside stuff for sale/rental; jet skis and food and drink. Plenty of picnic areas; tables & chairs just to sit and chill and watch all go by. Tourist police very helpful. Can also wander around early mornings and have breakfast in one of the cafes opposite the beach.

Patong beach is really nice- I loved the warm water. There are heaps of sun lounges available for only 100 baht- when we used these, the seller helped us by setting up extra umbrellas to provide more shade and made sure he brushed off any sand, even the sand from our own feet. There were cold drinks available nearby for purchase and even though there we various sellers walking past, they didn't bother us or invade our space and so we were still able to enjoy the view and relax.

There were also lots of restaurants and markets near the beach, and we found some great little shops selling good shirts for 150 baht each- much cheaper than the other markets we have been to in the area.

I thought it was nice, nothing special, there was hunderds of sun loungers for hire which were always busy. There are lots of water sports and activities.

Like the craziness and that anything goes. Keep money close to you eg bag in front. Fireworks go off frequently which frightens some 1st time visitors. Love the O-top market for shopping and also the bazaar int he Juncelyn basement. Beach is not overly clean and Patong in general can be smelly. Be prepared to be hassled to buy things, get to know your prices 1st.

Went to the beach and found it to be relatively cleaner than most Australian beaches. We decided to hire the sun lounges for 100THB each, and the people set up an additional umbrella because of the heat. The only people who seem to complain are those who expect everything to be free.

There were not too many people, and someone would walk past to sell something every 15 minutes or so but were not pushy and kept walking when told no.

Bars around the beach also reasonably priced and good friendly atmosphere. Cheap shopping too.
