I really enjoyed my 1 week stay here. 5 minutes
Scooter drive to the centre of Patong. Great gym with good equipment. Nice swimming pool
Friendly staff.
The shower could use a little face lift. The room itself was super good. Nice big bed. Kitchenette
Is also super. I found a really good rate on the internet.. would I stay here again? For sure!

The low rating is not for any one particular reason - there were enough niggles with our stay (and that of other guests we met) to be confident that some issues were commonplace. It wasn't a hideously terrible experience, but it was still a poor one and you can find better for less money. When we booked we were shown and promised one room but on moving in we were given a different room - it was darker and overlooking a laundrette - the workers constantly stared up (they seemed nice enough but it's not ideal). There was a hole in the ceiling tiles, and partially fitted lighting, not a huge problem but we were told they would be fixed - neither got fixed during our stay. We also had real problems with ants - 100s at a time. There was no kettle or toaster (some other rooms had them). The cleaning was definitely sub-par. The cupboard drawers were very grubby when we moved in and there was even a multi-barbed fish-hook in with the cutlery. We asked to be moved but were told it wasn't possible, and if we moved out completely we would have lost a sizeable deposit. At the time we stayed the wooden floor around the pool was badly warped with nails jutting out - we were told this would be fixed but it wasn't. The entire apartment block also ran out of water twice, meaning that we couldnt shower until more water was delivered that afternoon. The front- desk staff seemed nice but were not contactable on the weekends or after 6pm and could often not be found during the day. It also felt like when you asked for something it wasn't taken seriously - for example we asked a number of times for a kettle but never got one and other niggles were also not sorted for days, if at all - I feel a bit mean saying that as on some occassions they were good, but the honest truth is that the place felt understaffed. We have since stayed in several other serviced apartments that really put this to shame and are also cheaper. HL has potential to be nice, but right now you can do better.

We booked this hotel through lastminute and thought it sounded like an ok deal, the pictures looked great etc. We arrived late, so they had our key with the front security. Maybe because we arrived late at night, they thought they would put us in the worst room ever. The door handles had tape on them, the furniture was completely mismatched, there were weird wall hangings, a massive stain on the couch and it was completely cluttered. Would you believe the phone in the room did not even work! We couldn't believe the room. The next day we mentioned this to reception and fortunately were moved to another room. But the fact is, our first night was spent in this horror room after a long trip.

The next room we stayed at was a step up, but it still had major faults. The bed appeared to be broken on one side, so we couldn't sleep comfortably on the whole bed. We basically had to move over to the right side so one person didn't sleep on the wonky side. The hot water was sometimes non-existent and you can imagine after a long hot day in Phuket, that you would want a hot shower. To add to this, we bought some food so we could eat it in the room and heat things up in the microwave. We could not believe that while we were out, one of the staff had taken our microwave! Obviously someone from another room had requested a microwave, so they figured they would take ours! When I mentioned this to reception, all they had to say was sorry about that!

The staff at Haven Lagoon were non-existent and pretty unhelpful. Noone was at the reception desk until 12pm one morning and their office door was open and loads of luggage was in the room. Anyone could easily have walked right in and stolen people's bags.

Overall the experience was pretty bad. I feel like we were ripped off. After our 5 night stay there, we decided to stay in Phuket for another 2 nights and moved to another hotel that was only $30 AUD a night! And it was ten times better than the Haven Lagoon.

Room Tip: If you get the spooky horror room, ask to be moved asap.

Unless you find the view to a local dump tantalising. You enjoy being on a main road in the middle of nowhere, requiring you always taking overpriced cabs, and last but not least find the concept of service in it's minimum form completely overrated and to be avoided. Then this place will definitely not be what it's name so misleadingly implies.

In all fairness one cannot except too much considering the price. The rooms are worn down, but still has a western touch to it, if one is into that sort of thing, and there is the basic supply of towels etc.

With that said, for the 4 days we stayed there (apartment for four people), the water supply was shut down, the toilets overflowed, the receptionists was mostly nowhere to be found, and when able to localise them, even borrowing the phone for a local call proved to be an impossible task. The beds are beyond rock hard, and the tea kettle is a fire hazard. The worst part though is the locality. It is literally far away from everything. Tucked away next to the charming location of a local dump, it is half way between Kaon Beach and Patong, and equally far away from any sort of beach, leaving one always having to grab cabs.

It is absolutely soulless with it's half finished concrete exterior, and i will recommend everyone to seek accommodation elsewhere either in Patong or Karon beach, which one can find for the same price, but with the benefits of a real view, easy access to restaurants and nightlife as well as some sort of hospitality and service from the front desk. Phuket has so many amazing small unknown spots, which will provide a real authentic feeling of being on a holiday in Thailand, and for a very reasonable price, so don't cheat yourself of that experience by wasting any time or money at the 'Haven Lagoon'.

Best advice i can give you is, if you have the choice between this place and a any other half decent housing, choose the latter. If the choice is between the 'Haven lagoon' and and a concrete bench remotely close to a city or beach, i would honestly go for the bench, even if it did include having to fight a local hobo for it.

Have stayed here twice, once in August and once last week. First trip we had a 2 bedroom penthouse which was great. Massive living areas, 2 ensuite bathrooms off the bedrooms, airconditioners in each room and great outlook. I would give this apartment a 4.5 star.

2nd stay last week was in a 1 bedroom ( aprt 23) and it was ok. However the view is terrible ( your looking into a thai workers quarters , not pleasant at all). Apartment is ok for 1 or 2 people. one thing that urked me was that there was no tv in the bedroom. small thing I know but it bugged me. was told by the staff none of the one bedrooms have the tv's in the bedrooms. I would give this one 3 stars

if you are an independent type these apartments offer great value for money. They are outside of the madness that is down-town patong but only 3 minutes on a scooter or in a tuk tuk. ( they are near Simon Caberet if you know Patong at all). You can hire motorbikes at the complex and they can arrange airport drop offs and pickups as well ( 700 baht, not cheap but convient). Pool is really small but ok for a dip after a hot day. There is a family mart over the road and resturants a short stroll away.

I would definately stay in the 2 bedroom penthouse again but not in the 1 bedroom apartment 23. If they have 1 bedroom apartments on the north side of the building then their outlook will be good.

I have stayed at The Haven Lagoon twice now, and love it. These apartments are huge ,with kitchenettes and lounge rooms, big dining tables and flat screen TV's ,and the price is very reasonable. The staff here are excellent and go out of their way to help you with anything. The location is very quiet ,but it is only 5 minute bike ride or tuk tuk to Bangla road ,and only 10 minutes over the hill to Karon beach. They have 24 hour security ,plenty of parking ,2 pools ,nice small gym and excellent free wifi .24 hour Family Mart across the road . I have stayed in both the 1 and 2 bedroom apartments aswell as in one of the Penthouses, which are awesome to share with a mate or for a family .
