“Quiet beautiful and away from the busy strip”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

I stayed at the sea pearl villas for 10 nights in a deluxe room with pool access. The room size was perfect and the access straight out of the balcony into the pool was excellent. Although the pool was shared with 7 other units, we barely saw anyone else and had the pool to ourselves. Our jacuzzi was broken to start with, but once reported was fixed within the hour.

It was great being away from the busy, noisy patong stretch, but still had the convenience of a shuttle bus every hour to the main shopping mall and patong beach. The pick up times are dependable on the traffic, so patience is needed, otherwise you can get a tuk tuk or taxi easily back to the hotel. The shuttle bus does it's last round at 8, it would be good if it was a bit later - 10pm.

A big condition on me choosing this hotel was a gym, and this hotel didn't disappoint. Although small, it had enough to keep you occupied with a added health bar next door for some fruit shakes, and a lap pool.

My favourite part of this hotel was how friendly the staff was, the bell boys always said good morning, even random technical staff and cleaners would say hello. in particular, the security guard/traffic man who looks a little bit like forrest wittaker, waved to us everytime we walked nearby, drove past in a tuk tuk, and asked us how we were, when we were close enough.

i've read the other reviews and experienced none of the negative aspects which they talk about. Definately recommend for people who want to be close to the action, whilst away from all the noise, and to be able to spend days just relaxing at the hotel room, by the pool.

We stayed in Sea Pearl Villas for 5 days (11 to 15 Jan) after checking the reviews on TripAdvisor. It's a 3 year old resort so everything is pretty new. We are happy for the upgrade to a one bedroom suite which has 2 toilets, a shower area, a bathtub & a jacuzzi on the balcony. Really enjoyed the spaciousness of the suite. The Thai massage in the Spa was quite professional too. The free transport to the Mall & beach offers great convenience. The food wasn't good though be it the breakfast or dinner at the same restaurant. They can't even do basic eggs well and the service has lots of room for improvement. We also had to pay a 4000ThB deposit for the mini bar when checking in. They already had our credit card so we could not understand why they insisted on the deposit. We could only spend that money at the airport. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay and would recommend for the facilities.

Room Tip: Villas on higher floor and does not face the roads.

Ok So i have travelled most of the world and only yesterday came back to sydney from Phuket. I stayed here for 9 nights and have the following brief synopsis of the hotel.

Great Location other reviews are nonsense, they have a free bus every hour return to a 5 min ride to Patong Beach and Bangla road. It has full time security, its a peaceful hillside setting.

I stayed in a 1 bed suite and was modern, clean and comfortable. will stay again.

Room Tip: Get the 1 bed suite away from the lobby over looking the Pool lobby side noiser due to late traffic...

All the flash hotels in Phuket looked pretty shabby so keep this in mind. I paid $400 per night so was expecting amazing and got pretty good instead. It was ok but would have been happier paying a bit less and feeling like it was great value for money. Having said that, the room was beautiful, it was two rooms. King bed and beautiful bathroom in one room, lounge and roll away bed with small kitchen in other. Was plenty of room for family of four with youngest daughter on couch. Large sliding doors opened to balcony which was also nice. We had a jacuzzi on balcony which was not worth it, there was a putrid smell outside coming from the water from the surrounding fish ponds and there was no privacy so we did not use outside. I strongly suggest u check out the location of your room if possible. I was hard pressed to decide between pool access and jacuzzi room and should have chosen pool access. The kids club was great, and the free shuttle bus makes it easy to access patong where all the action is. The staff were great, particularly the poolside bar staff who were so nice and friendly, they had my kids completely enthralled and gave us a gift of the wooden dice game that we had all been playing.

we couldn't fault this resort. It was AMAZING. From the very friend staff where nothing was too much for them to the beautiful look of the resort. We were away from home, friends and family for New Year and all the team at Sea Pearl celebrated special events in a big way. The food and room service was absolutely delicious and some of the best we ate there. The breakfast buffet was amazing. Altough some mornings we missed the 10.30am cut off due to sleeping in!!. We throughly enjoyed lazing by the pool with a book and having drinks or food brought to us. My friend I travelled with enjoyed multiple massages and pedicures in the Spa.

Room Tip: F Building patong bay views

We booked Sea (Spew) Pearl based on its location away from central Patong and generally positive reviews on Trip Adviser. We will never return.

Beginning with the positives, we were given a nice room on the third floor behind reception. The room was comfortable, with lovely balcony views over the hills behind Patong beach and well away from the main road. The resort itself is quiet and has reasonable pool facilities although it is a little sterile with minimal atmosphere. Downsides are poorly stocked mini bars, delays in hot water (up to 5 minutes), freezing cold Jacuzzi on the balcony which made it unusable at night and no shuttle services post 8pm meaning relatively expensive taxi fares to get home each evening (300+ bht).

Unfortunately the resort is entirely let down by appalling customer service by the front desk staff. We initially dismissed the negative reviews of staff prior to booking thinking they may be exaggerated. We were wrong. The service at the front desk is abysmal, with long waits and rude service the norm. This behaviour is apparently condoned by management who were present on each occasion and did nothing to assist. Similarly the service in restaurants and pool bar was slow, unhelpful and all but one staff member who served us seemed to have zero English skills. This may not affect you if your stay goes smoothly however we were forced to interact with the front desk staff on numerous occasions and were extremely frustrated by the service. We also witnessed at least five other guests having similar issues at the front desk at various times during our stay.

We paid for the compulsory New Year’s Eve Gala dinner (approx. $300) which we were unable to attend due to severe cases of food poisoning from the hotel breakfast (all food and drinks consumed that day had been provided by the hotel and were struck down within an hour of each other). We note that other reviewers have previously suffered the same food poisoning fate which suggests the Hotel may have food hygiene issues. We arranged through the hotel staff for a doctor to attend our room, however despite their knowledge of our illness and our pleas for assistance, we were told that there was no room service available on New Year’s Eve and that we needed to “walk to the Gala (a few hundred meters away and down a steep hill) to collect your own food and drinks”. Being severely sick at this stage and unable to leave our room we were forced to survive for the evening on stale mini bar chips and only two bottles of water that were left over from the morning. This is unacceptable service in circumstances where a guest is poisoned by food consumed at the Hotel and it was quite distressing at the time. After informing the front desk staff the next day of our disappointment at the service we were met with blank stares and mumbled responses, and no refund for the Gala dinner was offered. We have also not received a response to a follow up email sent recently raising our concerns with Hotel management.

To rub salt into our wounds, the staff on checkout then charged us for drinks we had not consumed (we also note from other reviews that this is a common occurrence). The front desk staff member (who again could not speak English and needed to communicate through a colleague) refused to waive the charge and simply called the cleaning staff again for confirmation. This process took over an hour and by this stage we ended up paying for the drinks to simply escape to our new resort (our experience at Indigo Pearl in Nai Yang was the total opposite of Sea Pearl, and made us wish we had stayed at Indigo Pearl the entire trip. Five star service, five star food and a wonderful atmosphere all for the same price).

Avoid Sea Pearl Villas at all costs, as there are many other resorts with amazing staff and service for the same price if not cheaper in the Patong area. In summary, appalling service and food hygiene issues.

I would give this hotel 0 if I could.

Dear PrizeJoel
Thank you for your review as a responsible management we do look into all our reviews and try to overcome, hoping that our valuable clients of ours give us a chance to enhance and address their concerns when they try us second time after.
Addressing your comment on the Downsides kindly find my response as follow
(A poorly stocked mini bars,) we have a plane now with adding some extra items and replacing some of the existing ones to make it more convenient to our clients (Delays in hot water (up to 5 minutes), we acknowledged the problem recently and now we are working on it in 2013 as a new project. (freezing cold Jacuzzi on the balcony) In Thailand it is a tropical weather and most of our guests like the cold water to refresh, however it is a valid point that we can offer as an option to our guest to chose whether they like hot water or cold water. (no shuttle services post 8pm) most of the hotels they provide the same service as the clients want to go down to Patong and enjoy till late at night. As for taxi fair we have no control on that particular issue.
(Front desk staff.) We identify the responsible person in that particular case of yours and a corrective action has been taken to that particular employee and a training coerce initially to dismiss the negative attitude and the long waits. This were never brought to my attention and I do thank you fo r bringing it up I will personally look into it and full investigate why I was not informed to solve those problems in our hotel? (Restaurants and pool bar was slow,) Limited staff number is not an excuse however you are absolutely right it should not affect level of service. And also the language brier in Phuket is one of our main challenges.
(Food poisoning from the hotel breakfast) I will look into it and see where we might have a problem (All food and drinks consumed that day had been provided by the hotel and were struck down within an hour of each other). Some cases especially foreigners are not used to the Asian food although they like the taste but their system sometimes can’t handle it. We note that other reviewers have previously suffered the same food poisoning (this I was referring to as we investigated and apparently that guest like spicy food and end up with a strong diarrhea from the amount of spicy food consumed) (no room service available on New Year’s Eve) again short of staff and on that day we need every one to make sure that the new year party gose smooth with no guest complaints however to be asked to collect your own food and drinks”. It was not acceptable knowing your health condition, my apology (not received a response to a follow up email sent recently raising our concerns with Hotel management) I will double check on that with our reservations and systems as this is a normal procedures for our on line bookings.

To rub salt into our wounds, the staff on checkout then charged us for drinks we had not consumed Normally it comes from mini Bar check list every day from your room there must be a miss understanding
I would give this hotel 0 if I could. I wish if you can give us a second chance and by this way you will see our progress and development in the hotel.
Kind Regards
The management
