Reviewed January 16, 2014

This was our (family of 4 Adults) 5th visit to Phuket. We choose B Lay Tong Phuket after careful study of different hotels reviewed on TripAdvisor. We were so happy that we selected this hotel.

It is a well designed, neat and clean "small" hotel at the north end of Patong Beach (much quieter). The sea/beach is just across the road (yes, you have to cross the road) from the entrance of the hotel. The hotel provides beach towels, bags, etc. The rooms are well designed and comfortable. The "infinity pool is just wonderful - very clean with its own bar! The Phuket beach has loungers/umbrellas on rent. The hotel staff were helpful and most spoke English clearly. The buffet breakfast was excellent; the restaurants served of good quality food. We enjoyed our stay : - good food, good location and great value for money.

Room Tip: First floor rooms facing the swimming pool are the best

We stayed here for one night only, I redeemed my British Airways points for a room with swim up pool. It was lovely although didn't seem get much sun so not amazingly warm! However there is another lovely big pool with comfy loungers and view of the sea.

Breakfast was great, inside but lovely decorated area with comfy chairs (the entire hotel has pictures everywhere) and we even had some good sushi, as well as the normal offerings.

The hotel is just across road from the beach, it's a shame they don't have their own area with free chairs though. Walking to the right there seemed to be quite a lot of restaurants, there's a good Thai with views of beach just on corner (kalim or halim I think). We had a snack lunch from pool bar which was very nice

Beautiful hotel at the north end of Patong Beach (quieter). The room was beautiful with a view of the sea which was just steps from the entrance of the hotel. The staff was very helpful and most spoke English very well. The price was very reasonable and the accommodations were excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you are not into the nighttime partying that goes on at the south end of the beach.

We were booked to stay 6 nights at this hotel. We booked a deluxe room with our own spa on the balcony. We were super excited about staying, and enjoying the spa and ocean views, but we bitterly disappointment when we arrived.

Upon our arrival we had a lovely greeting from the door man, who showed us up to reception. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the reception staff. There were 6 staff behind the counter, none of them Thai, and they couldn't look less interested in checking us in if they tried. After checking in, and not feeling very welcome we were shown to our room. The hotel grounds, and walkways were not very attractive, and could have been made a lot nicer.

Our room was large and spacious and seemed lovely on the initial viewing. On heading out onto the balcony we discovered that the lock on the balcony door was broken, and hence could not be locked. The spa looked like it had seen better days. It wasn't dirty, but just looked very well worn, poorly maintained, and generally not very inviting. The shutter that sits in front of the spa for a little bit of privacy was also broken and is disrepair.

We found that night the the air conditioning was extremely noisy, and could not be adjusted to a lower fan setting to make it quiet. We both had a very poor nights sleep. We decided to check out and find another hotel, that would be better suited.

When asking the reception staff if we would be penalised for checking out early, we were advised no, that we would only be charged for the one night. At no point in time did they ask us why we wanted to leave early. Overall not very good customer service.

We stayed at this hotel as a part of our honeymoon and loved it. The Grand deluxe room with the Jacuzzi was really good. We got the room on the top floor with a beautiful pool and sea view. The service was excellent and with a smile. Although the language barrier is a problem everywhere in Thailand but then it's quite normal. The hotel is a comfortable distance from the hustle bustle of patong beach and this was a bonus indeed for us. The downside was the limited in room dining menu and breakfast that was not that appealing. The food quality was good. Overall the experience was wonderful and I would love to stay here again.

I stayed at B-Lay Tong for a week in November.
The moment you arrive all the staff is very attentive and friendly. They greeted us with tea and a cold wash cloth. By the time we had checked in they had already moved our bags to our room for us. Our room was AWESOME. It had this long lap pool that was right in front of our balcony (SEE MY PIC). I think it was only shared by like 4 other rooms but I was the only one I saw use it, so pretty private. The main pool overlooks the Patong beach (its literally across the street). It is a very beautiful set up (see pic) It has a portion of the chairs in the water and some out. There is a swim up bar with a decent selection of drinks (try their mojito, you will thank me). They will also serve you at your chair, both food and drinks. One cool addition to the pool is it has a side that is glass (see pics). Also I want to mention is that it is one of those salt-water type pools, not chlorine. If that is important to you. It is to me.

The breakfast is buffet style with a little bit of everything and a omelet/egg bar. The food is delicious! I was very pleased with eclectic selection. They always had a few different fresh juices to chose from. They stop serving breakfast at 11. Which is good for us jet-lagged patrons.

For night time- they do have a little bar there on site. It is swanky, classy, and low key. I enjoyed the ambiance. Although I did spend most of the nights out on the town. This is a perfect location for me because it was at the end of the Patong Beach strip where it wasn't busy and noisy but it was close enough to grab a quick scooter cab and be there in 2 minutes.

The cleanliness of the place has to be mentioned. After traveling all around Phuket, I have to admit this is one of the cleanest places I have seen. The staff takes pride in their place. The cleaning ladies always snuck in and out quickly. I did run into them once in my room and was surprised to see they take their shoes off at the door. By the way, all the staff is always a pleasure to run in to. Very friendly.

The only bad thing is how long it takes to get to Patong from the airport. Be prepared to be in a taxi for a good hour or so. I don't think they have a shuttle to/from airport. Not that taxis are expensive in Thailand by any means.

TIPS:
Once you are there you can rent a scooter at a place right next to hotel. Its great if you want to check out the other beaches or sites.
For going out at night- take scooter taxis not cars... the traffic picks up and these are quicker, easier, and everywhere.
Ask for a room on the bottom floor in front of the pools like mine. It is so nice to have.
Bring mosquito repellent and buy one of those little smoke repellent things for your patio.
You can rent a DVD player if you opt to stay in at night.

Room Tip: Get a ground floor unit with a pool in front of it. So amazing!
