“Excellent Location”

Stayed at Tatum Mansion for 2 weeks 25th October to 7th November. Recommended by a friend of mine. Room very clean, towels and bed sheets are changed every day floor swepted, staff have a smile on their faces and say, "Good Morning". THe Hotel dosen't have a resturant, but an excellent one is opposite price is good for Thai & Non-Thai foods. 711 or Family Mart is next door, bars are a stone throw away. Most things you want is on your door step. Phil the owner of the hotel is very accommodating to your every needs, any problems he will resolve asap. He tries to have a chat with his guess whenever he is not busy.
i would book here again without thinking twice, i enjoyed my stay, i had the suite, room 501 a lot of stairs before you arrive to your room, but that is only a minor setback. Can't wait to return to Thailand soon...

I have visited Phuket a number of times and have never experienced better hospitality before my stay at Tatum.

The staff are great. The night clerk especially, who took extra care of individuals returning worse for ware after a night out, a great bloke who would jump up from the bar stool while watching TV to grab your key from behind the desk. The staff overall were extremely helpful with excellent proficiency in English. Unlike higher end hotels, were staff hospitality would appear forced, the staff at Tatum showed genuine hospitality (for instance were willing to draw out maps to the cheapest tour stands rather than simply direct you to more expensive ones nearby.

The rooms are budget, however much BETTER QUALITY than what you would find at similarily priced accomodation. The rooms are big and comfortable, the beds were large. TV had cable and a DVD player. (when ours failed, Philip came right up and carried another down from a spare room.) The rooms were cleaned daily, my mate and I consistently mucked around the cleaning staff, ie. not being out of bed until 2 in the afternoon, yet the cleaning staff were more than willing to backtrack to clean our rooms.

The bathrooms are certainly the one let down of this hotel. WHILE CERTAINLY NOT A DEAL BREAKER! The showers simply dont have screens hence, to a novice operator like myself, water sprays all over the floor. The water then drains... This is NOT AN ISSUE.

Location is AMAZING, this really is the second lynch pin of Tatum after the hospitality of the staff. Look at it on maps on Agoda, Google etc. This is perfectly centred between the main shopping complex, the beach, and Bangla road. You WILL not do better for your money.

There is a great restaraunt across the Soi from Tatum (3 metres), which is open breakfast through to dinner, their prices are low and the meals are well oversized. This restaraunt SHOULD be displayed on their website as many of their guests dine their.

I stayed their in December 2009, came back mid January and am looking forward to another visit

Bookings go directly through Philip the owner, who you will find to be a very easy and friendly guy to do business with.

i chose to stay at this hotel earlier this year because of the good reviews here + the rooms of the hotel looked very modern in the pictures.

after a 1-week stay, i have to say i am very pleased with the whole holiday. my room (406) was very clean, bedsheets and towels changed on a daily basis (or as required), cable TV (at least 40+ channels) and the owner, philip and the chambermaids were extremely helpful and friendly.

one of the best feature of my stay here was when philip offered me a selection of english branded teas (even tetleys and yorkshire!). it's always very nice to have a nice cuppa coming back to the hotel after the beach. there are also free internet next to reception and wi-fi. location of the hotel is very convenient: 2-min walk to beach, 10-min to bangla, 10-min to a big shopping mall and lots of starbucks closeby!

the only thing that i did not like was the fact that the whole bathroom is a wetroom. this is by no means a 5-star hotel, but for the amount they charge, it is extremely good value. the best thing of this stay is definitely the friendliness from the staff.

Nice with reasonable pricing.
Short walk to food and shopping.
Tour booth is just at the restaurant opposite, although you may want to compare with more tour booths nearer to beach.

we stayed at the tatum mansion for one night only.
I booked this hotel because of the reviews that i read on trip advisor.
We needed the hotel just to sleep in for the one night, so weren`t really expecting anything luxurious,.
When we arrived the lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were on the fifth floor so we had to carry all the luggage up. The rooms were big and clean, the bathroom was ok but the girls didnt want to go in it without shoes or touch anything.
We literally put our bags in the room and left because we were going to a show. We returned late at night and met the owner Phil who is also very friendly and pleasant.
When we got up to the rooms we discovered that one bathroom had no running water in the shower, we didn`t complain because it was very late and eveyone wanted to go to sleep, so we all used the bathroom in the second room. There was only a light flow from that shower too. At around 1.30 in the morning we all woke up to a really disgusting smell from one of the bathrooms, ( the one with no running water) it smelt like sewage and lasted for about 15 minutes until it disappeared.
When we checked out early in the morning the night clerk asked us if we had had anything from the mini bar, i said no although we had drunk the water but i was under the impression that hotels need to give each guest a bottle of water each day ( this had been the case in the 6 previous hotels we had stayed in and it also says this on all the tourists information sites.)
After the clerk checked the room he came back and was very unpleasant and aggressive in his manner towards us, he said that we had lied to him and that we had also eaten chocolate which we definately had not.
When i explained about the water he said `not in this hotel `.
I asked his why he was shouting but he refused to answer me and when we told him about the water problem in the shower he got even angrier with us even though i told him that we weren`t complaing we were just informing him so that they could fix it before they put anyone else in the room.
There was another employee in the lobby during all of this and he was very apologetic for his collegues attitude,
After staying there I looked at the reviews again and i can honestly say that i find it hard to believe that we are talking about the same place.
I did not expect a lot and i certainly didnt get it
I think phil should also have a chat with his night clerk about customer relations.

I welcome all comments from guests be they good or bad. If they are negative it can only help me to improve should they be justified or realistic.
For this family I can not explain the odor in 1 of the bathrooms and this is the first time a guest has mentioned it to me. For the shower not working, well it worked perfectly well when I pushed the 'large' on/off switch.
With regards to the attitude of my staff at check out, there is no excuse for this. Check out time was around the end of my night man's shift and as is policy rooms are checked before guests leave the hotel. At 63 years of age he went to the 5th floor to check the rooms and noticed water had been consumed. There are no signs to say this water is complimentary, however there is no excuse for rudeness from my staff. This I appoligise for and have already talked with the night man regarding this.
One last point, is the guest omitted to point out the discounted rate we offered for guaranteed connecting rooms so close to Christmas, waiving the 3rd person supplement and also getting an upgrade too.

Having stayed in Patong beach at the nearby Golden Beach i knew the area well. After trying and failing to get in contact with Golden Beach i remembered Tatum from the many times i'd played pool in there. I have to say i wont be staying at Golden Beach anymore. Great rooms on the top floor with a nice view. The building work down below was slightly annoying but thats nothing of tatums doing.
I'd recommend highly to someone who wants to be close to the beach, have a clean air con room with little extra's at a very good price.
Will defiantly come again!

Matt

We stayed for a week at Tatum Mansion. Had a room with balcony on the top floor with sea views and a huge bed. All staff were very helpful, especially Phil, the owner, who gave us a kettle, mugs and teabags for our room. Near to all the nightlife but quiet at night, and a really short walk to the beach, great choice of local restaurants. Had a fab time.
