The Album Hotel (formerly Tique) is such a fantastic gem that i had to write a review about it.
First impression was a delight. The front of the hotel opens out to the reception, pantry and places to eat, drinks and just basically relax. Its modern chic deco with toycars and antiques was perfect place to have a photosession! We were greeted with juice and cold towel. If you were to arrive earlier before your room is ready and during breakfast, they would offer you to help yourself to it. Breakfast was a simple meal of breads, cheese, hardboiled eggs, yogurt and cereal. Theres freeflow of hot drinks, juices and mineral water 24 hours at the reception. Grab a couple of mineral water bottles before you go out and then cold towels in the fridge, juice and maybe a banana muffin when you return to the hotel after a hot sweaty day out. That made our stay so different from other hotels and resorts we stayed at where you immediately go to your room to relax. Every Friday theres an happy hours late afternoon with popcorn, snacks and wine to relax with other guests. Theres an LCD tv, 2 computers for guests to use with free Wifi all over the hotel and CD player for you to select what you want to listen to at any time of the day while you sit at the street level balcony looking at people going by.
Travelled with a 4 months old baby and she was carried around by the staff every time she made an entrance. They even offered to babysit the baby if needed. The staffs are definitely friendly and would help you in any way they could. They do have a wooden cot but we rented ours. Negatives: We emailed them to ask about baby cot but they said they didnt have one. When we arrived, Oom, one of the staff there was surprised we rented a cot and asked us to show us the email which unfortunately been deleted. Housekeeping is difficult in the evenings because they had only 1 person at the reception. Our baby vomitted on the bed one evening before dinner, they had to call someone to help to clean it up. They didnt change the bedsheet though for reasons unknown. Nonetheless, they were attentive and friendly.
Perfect location at a corner a street away from both Bangla Road (walk straight frm hotel) and Patong Beach (walk right from hotel) makes it easier on the feet to walk around and away from the noises and crowd. There's a market nearby that sells more varieties of items than others further away. Cheaper too! turn left from the hotel, cross the street and and left again. Its just a minute walk.
We had 2 rooms on the second and third floors. Kingsized bedroom had a small balcony overlooking the street. Slightly bigger than the double twin beds room which had 2 windows and no balcony. The view from the rooms is not spectacular, just of the street below and the electrical poles and wires that is common in all of Phuket's streets. Small bathroom but definitely adequate with a shower with really hot water. Clean, smartly decorated rooms have DVD players, LCD tv with a good selection of international channels, hidden drawers for fridge and hairdryers. Dont bother bringing a beach basket. We were surprised when we opened the closet to find a beach basket, a "tikar" (a weaved mat) for you to bring to beach, 2 umbrellas and 2 robes. Bed was with a firm mattress preffered for by Thais and 4 lovely soft pillows.
At the rooftop, you get a nice view of Patong, the ocean especially at sunset. The pool is more of a plunge pool and a good cold water jacuzzi. A good place to sunbathe and take a dip even in the middle of the night :)
Tip: Taxi drivers may not be fimiliar with the name. Pronouce it as "A-la-bum" and tell road name. Its just at the corner of the road.
