“Best Place for Northern Thailand!”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

I will not lie. It is one of the best place I have ever been to period.

You start your day by going up the tiny road and arrive at Pang Oung which is a reservoir, around 6 AM and awaiting the sun rise.

Then when sun begins to rise behind the mountain you will see the fog slowly crawling from the mountain directly to you. The sight will be unforgettable. It was magnificent. Then when the ray of light shines pass the top of the mountain, the lake color turns to gold and another fog will slowly crawling to you from the other end of the lake.
After the beautiful fog slowly dissolve, you can walk inside the forest park to witness a beautiful Cherry blossom tree that is full bloom.( During January only) Then see the marvelous swan floating pass by in the giant lake.

It was only 2 hours that I spent time there but it was breath taking. A must for every travelers who drive pass more than 2000 curves from Chiang Mai to get here!

You can also stay the night and enjoy the beautiful stars and beautiful sunset.

Please be careful that during the winter, this place is cold! Like almost 0 Degree Celsius so prepare cloth properly. :)

“The tranquil beauty of Pang Ung Lake”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

Don't rush to Pang Ung Lake if you are not ready to appreciate the beauty of tranquillity of nature, of universal. We were for not too long but we enjoyed our short stay as the lake is not meant for tourist but more for the local people who camp overnight to catch the magnificent view of sun light and mystical beauty of the lake. Well, we did not camp overnight and we didn't get the chance to see the awesome sunlight but it's still brighten and lighten our journey before we left for Pan Rak Thai.

“Peaceful place”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

Pang Ung is a mountain reservoir surrounded by pines and is approx. 500 metres from a Ban Ruam Thai (Shan village) where there is accommodation and places to eat. Ban Ruam Thai has great coffee and make sure you stop at the first coffee place and go through to the back where you can see 300 year old bamboo and a nice rural view over a coffee plantation. There is also camping and bungalow accommodation near the reservoir. It is a very peaceful location and you can go boating on bamboo type rafts.

“Great”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

I have been living in Thailand for 3 years and this experience for me was really........... cold! It was only 8 degrees at 5.30 in the morning but it was stunning. beautiful sunrise over the lake and one of the biggest pluses i was the only foreigner! it never happened to me in Thailand that i went to a national park with no foreigners. This made the experience a lot better as it felt really local. Stunning scenes with mist on the lake and the sunrise above it!

Accommodation you can choose to go camping or one room bungalow with communal shower or bungalow with cold water shower.
