If you are a rock climber and not on a tight string budget then this resort is for you: most of the guests are climbers, climbing areas are 1 min walking distance away. However, it's ridiculously hard to get to this place. It's locked away from Krabi or AoNang(two closest towns) by mountains and oceanAnd the only way to get to any of these is by long tail boat taxis that will charge you 100 baht to get to main railey beach from where you will have to take another boat to Krabi for 150 baht. Another option is to go to Aonang - a boat costs 800 baht whether it's just one person or 8( cost split evenly among the passengers). In low tide you can hike to railey beach where food and everything in thank is two times cheaper. In high rise you are stick to this resort.
They have a buffet breakfast included into the price though so that's nice. But you can find cheaper places next door ( dream resort etc) or better even something on railey beach where food and entertainment are cheaper and you have access to all the major climbing spots.

This was among the cheapest accommodation we were able to find in the Railay Area and still not great value considering other places we've stayed for much less.

The resort was a little dated. The AC bungalow we had was large but the rest of the resort could have done with some improvements. The staff were friendly, especially the restaurant staff. Although we did experience some other tourists getting the rude treatment, although this was because the other tourists were being rude and disrespectful towards the staff who were only trying to help.

The included breakfast was OK. As good as any other breakfast offering on Tonsai. Not much of a buffet, you basically get unlimited toast, coffee and juice and then one cooked plate which was eggs, a hotdog sausage and what I think could have been some kind of ham type derivative. Oh, and 8 baked beans too.

Tonsai Bay itself turned out to be a lovely little hidden gem away from the touristy hustle and bustle of Railay itself. However the trail to Railay West is only about 5 mins long through a bit of woodland on the coast. There are some great spots to drink and eat in Tonsai Bay so I would actually recommend staying in this area rather than Railay West if you prefer a quieter, more chilled out scene.

Overall the resort it saved by its location.

You can get here from Ao Nang for 100B /person by Longtail.

I've been traveling around Asia for a couple of months now and this is the first place I've had anything bad to say about. We haven't been too fussy about where we stay but here we found was a bit unpleasant. Electricity worked only during the night and by the time we woke up every morning it had been turned off. Not the resorts fault but more Mosquitos than we'd seen anywhere else. The free breakfast is a challenge to eat because as soon as you set your plate down it becomes coated in flies. The staff were friendly but not too attentive some were snappy when we didn't understand them. The location is good though, however there are nicer places to stay very close by from what we could see. Don't like giving bad reviews but thought this was called for.

Overpriced. Rooms were very average. Maid service was poor. Stayed in many a resort in Thailand and found this one to be poor value. Avertizes Wifi, it is very spotty. I'm not saying it is a bad resort, just not good value in our opinion. The bay itself is beautiful. Rooms can be aways from the beach.

This resort consists of a bunch of really cute bungalows. The entrance is right on the beach and even the furthest back bungalow is only a few minute walk from beachfront. Accommodations were nice and very clean. Decent restaurant right on the beach that overlooks the water. Reception seemed to lack interest in helping/talking to anyone...that was the only real downside. Tonsai is a cool beach...feels pretty deserted and personal. It has a definite hippie vibe and a row of chill bars. The beach is rocky so it's not really suitable for swimming but Railay is just a quick stroll away and that beach is wonderful.

We stayed there for 3 nights, last March 2014. From the start it seemed that everything is not okey with this resort! The receptionist didn't show any interest and the staff in generally was unhappy and avoided any contact to us. Only smily person was a guy who worked at the restaurant. The worst was the couple who seemed to manage this place. The lady was sleeping while she was seated at the breakfast ( behind the desk) and was showing angry faces all the time. Very scary! The man, who seemed to be the other owner was not nicer. He got very angry when we kindly asked if it would be possible to get some toilet tissue to our room. Well, we never got it. Funniest thing was that when we said that we are leaving the next day, the manager just sayed that: leave at noon..Oh my, this was truly an extreme experience, and would wreck your joyful feelings easily.

Just wanted to write some information from our experience.

After your cab drive from the airport, you have to take a longboat to Tonsai Bay. We had to wade through the water carrying backpacks with no help from the boatman.Upon arriving at Tonsai we were treated like a huge inconvenience. I had asked for a cot on BOOKING.COM and he had no record of it and told us my daughter could sleep on the floor. He said "no free breakfast" for her. The bungalows were pretty cool. Set up a dirt path set back in the hills with a front porch. Relatively clean but no lights in the bathroom. We reported it twice but it was never resolved so we showered by cell phone light. We did have a family of monkeys living above us so they were really cool to observe on the porch (BRING bugspray) . Although they did make a lot of noise jumping from roof to roof it was fun to watch them. Saturday night the local bars on the beach come alive with music and dancing. Great staff at the bar but be sure you know how know the prices as they upped the price a few times before we caught it. The beach is not as nice as Railey but you can wade through the water at low tide to go to Railey west. Long boats are available for your return but be sure to negotiate a price. It helps if you speak a bit of thai. I would go back here and stay longer to get into the relaxing island mode. Beautiful place.

Room Tip: Some bungalows are set way back so bring good walking shoes.
