“Charming Guesthouse - the little touches count.”
Reviewed March 20, 2012

We found this guesthouse by chance and we extremely pleased at the standard of the accommodation, the service and the value it offered.

Nice decor, clean and fresh and light and bright - this place has a good vibe for a relaxing stay in a noisy town.

Only one fault, yet unavoidable is the noise at night. I think this is the case anywhere in this town though!

Stayed here for 4 nights. We were in a room on the bottom floor. The room was huge. Yes, the beds are hard, but all beds are hard in Thailand. The breakfasts in the morning were great. The only downsides to our room was that the power would cut out whenever you showered. The sliding door also had a few holes which let mosquitoes in but we just put tape over the holes and that worked.

Contrary to other reviewers, I found this place to be really quiet and I didn't find it to be close to the "girly bars".

Pretty good wifi in the restaurant/lobby. Too bad you can't get the wifi in your room.

Was little late for this review. We stayed here May 11 during the low season.
Got to know Baan Purr from a local forum in Malaysia , some couples recommended it for its good price and location. We can't agree more with it, loved this place at first sight when we stepped in! The ambience was so homey and comfy, and room we got was spacious and spotlessly clean, came with all the basic neccesity a guest house should have. Everything in the room works well, the A/C,hot shower, fridge,TV etc.

Saw some reviews about the noise from neighbouring pubs, but we didnt found it a problem to sleep well during our stay for 3 nights , heard only little noise after we closed the room door and windows (we stayed at the upstair room next to the staircase). And I loved the bed too! I had injured my back before and prefered solid mattress that could support my back during sleeping so I wouldnt have aching back the next morning. Obviously Baan Purr's bed suit me and perhaps thats why I could slept dead even it was little noisy out there :)

The permise is just 10 mins walk down to Ao Nang beach and along the street there are many restaurants , grocerry and souvenir shops, massage places and pubs. I would recommend one to rent a bike at nearby rental shop if you would like to go further to explore the area nearby Ao Nang.

To add on , the owner, Tao is nice and helpful to all our requests , we will certainly come back to Baan Purr when we come to Krabi again!

Room Tip: Not recommend for light sleepers sensitive to noise and those who dont like solid mattress

Stayed here for 4 nights initially and booked another 3 nights as we really enjoyed krabi. We were travelling on a budget and the price we paid for the room (online) was the same as what we had been paying elsewhere in Thailand and the quality was better. It was quite a spacious room with good aircon and nice touches such as glass bottled water. However, one gripe we had was when the owner went to bed, he turned the wifi off so had to wait for him to turn it on to be able to use it (not a massive thing though really). Room could get noisy at night as bars were outside but the location was great. Less than a 5min walk to the beach and about 10mins to centre point (where all the main bars are).
don't book any excursions through the hotel as they don't discount, when you walk outside you will find loads of shops doing trips for discounted rates.
Overall, a nice little hotel with a pleasant atmosphere

I can see why this place gets mixed reviews!

Ok, if your on a budget and want to stay somewhere safe, friendly and central or if you are just passing through, then Baan purr is the place for you. The guy who runs the place is very nice, if a little quiet. Breakfast is good and the aircon is superb. Free internets a plus even though it says they charge you.

On the other hand if you want to pay 3* prices and expect 5* standards then this is not for you. It can get quite noisy as you are near to the bars. but thats the only bad point on an otherwise pleasent stopover.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel to avoid the noise from the bars.

We've just left this place on the 8th May after 3 nights. These were the worst 3 nights of our stay so far!
In brief, night 1, Room 8. Relatively comfortable bed by Thai standards (too 'board like' for us) Shocking amount of noise until 0400hrs from the 2 bars next door, and the disco base beat from the girly go-go bars further down the main street running parallel with Baan Purr. An uncomfortable night with very little sleep I asked Tao the owner (who was a very quiet but also very nice guy) if we could change rooms for a room downstairs as it seemed to be quieter there.
Night 2, Room 4. Had to pay slightly more money for the room as it was larger than the upstairs rooms. Turns out that it wasn't any quieter at all and we would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor! The mattress was almost solid and you could feel EVERY spring in it. We even tried to put some towels and sarongs on top of the matters to make it better but that failed to work. To make things worse, the noise was just as bad. So again, no sleep until after 0400hrs!
Night 3 still Room 4. Spoke to Tao and asked if we could either move back upstairs to Room 8, or if he could do something about the mattress. Politely told by Tao that we couldn't move room again as he had given us a 'special' price for our room. He did however say that he would do whatever he could about the mattress. They placed a blanket over which made very little difference. So, another uncomfortable night with very little sleep.
Overall, as much as the owner was a really nice guy, I really can't recommend Baan Purr as somewhere to stay. The rooms are fairly basic and it's pointless having a TV if it doesn't work ( unless you're happy watching a badly tuned tv ) To be fair, if it wasn't for the noise and bad mattress, I would have given this place 10/10. The owner, location, and really good food and coffee make it a nice place to stay. Unfortunately, unless some serious soundproofing was put in place, there's no way I'd go back there. Sadly for Tao, unless you want to party all night and sleep all day, I'd avoid the Baan Purr.

We stay here 3 nights for our trip. Tao, person in charge is very friendly and help us arrange the island trip. Room is clean, cozy & comfort but mattress a little bit hard, we prefer soft mattress. Daily housekeeping. Breakfast is nice. Location is okay, just 5-10mins walk to Ao nang beach.
