I stayed at both the White 1 and 2 about 5 times in the last 3 years already. White 1 is tired but provides the same comfort as White 2. Both in good locations next to convenient stores and short walking distance to both beaches. They represent comfortable bed, air-con, bathroom, daily cleaning, convenient location, and you're not going to get much better than this for THB1,500-1,800 a night. Staff (a whole person) is tentative and friendly, and makes you feel at ease/home. This place for me is like a simple Italian pasta, no fuss, no frills, and does the job everytime. In Phi Phi you spend most of the time outside your room anyway and there are much better beaches than the ones on both side of the main town so just dont think too much, go for these two, and you'll have an amazing holiday without feeling riped off. Use your money for boat trips, diving and other fun activities instead as there are much to explore. PS - who needs swimming pool or a gym when you're in Phi Phi anyway.... We stayed 4 nights in the White 2. The location is good – 50 meters on the side street from the main road: close enough to feel in the middle of action, but not directly on it to feel in the middle of the noise. The room was very basic, but still nice.

The staff was very rude. 3 people always sitting in the lobby, never said "hello" back to us, never even seemed like they see us when we say "hello" (and the lobby is very small). The sheets were dirty and had many stains on them and nobody changed them for the whole stay. The air conditioner was very noisy. There was always noise from the lobby and hall (was very bothering in the morning). There were no toiletries.

We stayed in the white 2, located very close to bars, nightlife, restaurants, 711's and so on. We stayed on the ground floor with a/c, hot water and chic concrete floors. This was a bit of a splurge for us, but sometimes after a long string of backpacking and staying in less-than-desirable places, you need a place to relax, unwind and feel *clean*. We stayed 2 nights and it was just perfect.
