I planned to stay 4 days and ended up staying 8. I rented a beach bungalow for ~$10 USD a night, which came with a clean western bathroom, big bed, mosquito net, and a porch with a hammock. The food in the restaurant is good, with entrees costing ~100-200THB.
The island is idyllic and not very crowded, which was just what I needed. The staff is lovely and super helpful, and the island hosts friendly and welcoming regulars who are clearly living the good life. I came as a young woman alone, and felt totally comfortable.
The beach isn't like the white sand oases that you'll find on other Thai Islands, which is what keeps it cheap. But it's still far nicer than any beach you have at home - and definitely, definitely worth a visit. The tide comes in for about 3-4 hours a day, and the water is lovely and warm.
It is kind of difficult to find (which may add to its charm, depending on what kind of traveler you are), and it's helpful to have a Thai speaker in Krabi help you find the place where the shuttle arrives. It's near the Post Office, for what that's worth.
This is the kind of place that people visit and end up never leaving, so be careful!!More
