Great getaway place!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 7, 2012
First off, let me start by saying that you should not book this resort if:

1. You expect to be close to Krabi Town.
2. You expect the place to be almost like new.
3. You expect lots of activities/food options/nightlife in the area.
4. You expect a great beach.

If so, then it'd serve you well to find another place.

However, if you're looking for:

1. A true getaway, and I mean getaway from EVERYTHING,
2. Great service by friendly staff,
3. Delicious food,
4. A totally relaxing time with a loved one doing absolutely nothing but enjoying each other's company (read: quality time)...

...then you have come to the right place.

My husband and I had booked 5 nights at the Villa room with private pool, and it was the most relaxing vacation we've ever had (part of our 8th wedding anniversary). This is not to say that all we did was stay in our room because we did book ourselves a full day kayaking activity on our anniversary date itself, and also went on a free tour to the Emerald Pool and Hot Spring that was offered by Nantra de Deluxe. They organise some free activities / sightseeing every day of the week, and sometimes you need to pay a little fee, otherwise just entrance fees.

The rest of the time, we simply stayed in our villa and enjoyed our very own pool as well as the very spacious and "open" bathtub. Bring a book to read, borrow some free DVDs from the hotel to watch in your rooms, take walks on the beach, or just talk with your significant other.

We ate breakfast and dinner at the one and only restaurant at the resort, and I have to say that we L.O.V.E.D the food! It was also very reasonably priced. Would have loved to kidnap the chef and make him our personal chef back home in Denmark ;o).

When the staff found out that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary there, they did not hesitate to celebrate it with us! We were given a free bottle of wine that tasted very good, and a discount on our dinner on our anniversary night itself. It was like celebrating with family!

We did not manage to try out the spa, but there is one there. You can also borrow kayaks for free, but since we already went on a kayak tour, we didn't make use of this possibility.

Yes, there are insects and bugs and lizards (gecko) and crickets and frogs and snails that come out after heavy rain, but hey, that's how it is when you're out in the middle of nowhere. There are 3 cats with 3 kittens too, but they don't bother us at all. Our room itself was kept very clean, and if you're missing something, just inform the staff and they will help.

Note though: we did have trouble with the free wifi in our room and had to go out to surf the net at the reception itself. Though it was a bit of a hassle, we just took it as an opportunity to get out of our villa and walk the grounds a little (and borrow/return more DVDs while at it). Was not at all a big issue for us.

Anyway, we were very happy with our stay at Nantra de Deluxe, and would stay there again if ever we are back in Krabi :o).

Room Tip: If you can, go for the Villa room with private pool. The one we stayed in also had a great view...

The hotel is ok, too old, very far from Krabi and it´s not the same (very different) as the pictures you can see at the hotel web. It´s not well conserved and many times there´s not in uff service. The beach is very long (Long Beach) but nobody use it, there are many fishes dead, brown sand, water is too hot and is not like Samui or Phi Phi water. Kayak is free and they organize free tours around the area because it is very far from everything. Timetable for eating are very short. If you like relaxing to the end and old hotels this is your choice.

We stayed in this hotel in 2008, so it's a while ago, but i remember it very well!

When we stayed here, the hotel was relatively new. the rooms were cosy and spacious, the beds were very good and the outside bathroom was very nice!

The swimmingpool is small but good. and the oceanview from the terrace, especially @ night is really nice!

The only downfall is the area. It's a very quiet area of Krabi far away from all the restaurants and shops. That kind of forces you to have your dinner at the hotel. Which is fine, the food is very good and prices are ok, but it can be nice to eat somewhere else sometimes.. we stayed here the last 4 days of our holiday, so we didn't do much, mostly sunbathing by the pool, since we already had 4 weeks of activity's behind us... this hotel is the perfect romantic getaway!

A major warning to all people who are even thinking of checking out rates for this hotel. We checked in the hotel after reading the good reviews on the site and we had planned a five night stay up here but to our disappointment we checked out an hour after we were let in to our room.
To begin with the place is almost 30 mins from the airport and located deep into the village till it meets the beach. There is absolutely nothing around this place. Its an hour from Krabi town. The room given to us was too much in the interiors and had an entrance through the bathroom. balcony was located with a swamp on one side and insects everywhere around. The main door would not close and the room was very dusty and looked unused for ages. After requesting the staff we were given a pool villa but it was even more disgusting.. the pool water looked mucky & the balcony was very dirty also there was a cat in the villa. To add to our frustration there was no phone line in the room to contact the reception. Even though there was a wifi connection internet would not work. When we asked for Lunch we were told that the hotel was closed since they did not have much guest and after we insisted for food they ordered lunch for us. more over the staff was very unprofessional. Just the thought of being in that isolated place for 5days without a phone and internet connection scarred us.. we immediately asked for a taxi and checked out of that place.
The place is a disaster and i would strongly recommend that none visit this place !!!

this resort is so laid back is trouble of falling over.we have enjoyed our week here but there is a very relaxed attitude here.they need to get into a work ethic, first sack all the maintanance staff.the man made white sand beach is filthy and is in danger or becoming a field it is raked for maybe 5 mins a day.mould everywhere even on the sign coming in.the food is terrible, breakfast choice of eggs and toast thats it.you defiantly need transport.we found some great little thai shacks serving cheap good food,if you dont like thai food god help you.the staff are very friendly.i have tried to be constuctive and must say feel relaxed and batteries recharged.we had a pool room, the floor etc very dirty.the room was nice and the view in the morning is spectacular.a bit like marmite you will love it or hate it.also they make it very hard to find very few signs,we speak thia so ok otherwise it is a hunt.
