“Fun night in Khon Kaen - 7th heaven at 7 Corners”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2011

Arrived a bit late as party had been going since 4pm that day......we got there at 10pm...the owner (Tony) was there and we had a few Chang Beers together....his wife made sure we were happy and she ordered up some pub food for us.....all in all a great time and we walked back to our hotel - 5 mins away....there are a few dogs along the path but they dont bite...and we had a good nights rest.

“Magnificent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2010

One of the first places I found a couple or so years ago, I've been going back on and off ever since. Friendly staff, Guinness on tap and the atmosphere is great. Home base for the Khon Kaen Cricket team and a regular haunt of Thai and expat teachers. Regular events calender from Australia Day to St Georges Day and Halloween with free Bar-B-Ques laid-on by the guv'ner.

“Seven's Corner is Tops!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2010

This bar is owned by Nigel, a Brit expat who teaches at the local high school, and his sweet Thai wife, Gigi, who keeps the place running smoothly. The bar is a nice garden setting at the convergence of three streets where one has the choice of eating off the many motorbike/kitchens with specialties like dried squid, bbq chicken and other Thai delicacies or ordering from the bar menu which is heavily British but with some Thai food as well. The clientele include many of the local expat teachers of different nationalities, retirees, tourists and groups of Thai professors from the university who like to hang out at the large tables set up in the smoking area. If you are a traveler, this is a good place to talk to some friendly people who will give you a welcome and tell you the straight facts about the area.

“A little corner of an English pub.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2010

Seven's Corner is not a restaurant, it's a neighborhood pub. If you want an imported draft beer or cider it's the best (possibly only) place in town. If you'd like something to eat they do stock a few varieties of Kettle chips and can provide menus for several local eateries (Western and Thai) that will deliver. The Thai staff speaks passable English and will be glad to call in the order for you.

Seven's drafts are clearly it's biggest draw but it has an ample selection of domestic and imported bottles. If you're not a beer drinker (and want something beyond cider) they also sock wine coolers, imported wines, and a fair selection of spirits and mixers (sadly, no single malts).

Seven's is open to the air, but is well shaded and has plenty of fans. There are designated smoking areas but these are rather laxly enforced. If you don't care for smoke, position yourself near a fan. The premises are located between two side streets that meet at a sharp angle, and the bar itself is located in the narrowest part of the pub, with nicely padded barstools lining its two longest sides. Patrons on either side have a fair view the TV (usually with some manner of sport on). Music comes from satellite radio. If you need a diversion, you can find a pool table (free to customers), dart board, a PC with internet access (also free to customers), and a few shelves of Western novels (mostly English, but I've spotted a few Dutch editions as well).

The staff are friendly and helpful. They have enough English to manage your drinks or food orders, summon a cab or tuk-tuk if you need one, and carry on a bit of conversation. If you're looking for bar girls, look elsewhere.

Early in the day and evening the clientèle is mostly ex-pats, many of whom are teachers stopping for a pint after work. Later in the evening more Thais join the mix. If you're looking for a "bar-scene", dancing, or a place to meet girls, you're apt to be disappointed. If you want to enjoy a quiet drink with friends (old or new) you'd be hard pressed to find a better spot.
