My family and I spent three wonderfful days at Homestay Manida. Da is a lovely, caring host and she quietly made sure that we were happy and relaxed. We required two rooms for our family - both were well presented. In particular the larger room was beautifully furnished and had lovely teak woodwork(handbasin in this room). Both rooms had fans, air con and DVD players. We had internet access and a fridge upstairs. Da is a wonderful cook and we had delicious meals served outside in the waterfall house. One evening my daughter helped with the cooking of the evening meal - we made a trip to the local market by moped first for the produce. It was delightful to see the frogs and geckos very much at home in the garden. We loved the village - the locals were warm and friendly and interested in us. We watched villagers preparing their chilli crop for the market and a family weaving mats. A highlight was venturing to the village early one morning seeing the buffaloes and chickens and being part of the ritual of offering food to the monks. Da acted as a guide and translator for us on one of our trips around the countryside - we visited a magnificient dam, a local temple (100's of steps), a museum and a park for an Isan 'picnic'. When I had difficulty booking a bus and accomodation Da stepped in to help. My only regret is that we didn't have a few days longer in this refreshingly un-touristy part of Thailand. We would certainly love to come back!
