“Bridge on River Kwai + Long Tail Boat Trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014

Khwae Yai River (River Kwai)
We reached the bridge on the river kwai after 5:00 PM Local Time, closing time for all the museums, cemetery etc.

As per the suggestion received by our host at Xanadu 2008, we quickly crossed over to the other side of the bridge and hired a long-tail boat @500 THB for a one hour trip along the river, for the two of us.

We were lucky to watch a long-boat race while we were cruising along the river!
A short video of the race can be watched here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxwRUyzdtZ0

Our boatman took us to the Jeath War Museum, The Chungkai War Cemetry and the Kao Pun Cave as part of the one hour trip.

“A long river, unfortunately very polluted”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2014

At some resorts you have the opportunity, to float down the river,. Not something I did but my friends did. Flows very swiftly
sadly there is generally a huge rubbish problem in Thailand, so all plastic bags and bottles float down stream

“Nice scenery, but the town is not worth it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014

I walked across this section of the Death Railway for a view of the River Kwai and like the scenery. People still live in the area who are not in the tourist business and it was nice to see how they lived. There is a temple on the opposite side which was not surprising to find.
The town is a tourist trap of course and I only bought four postcards for 5 THB a piece.
