There are bus and train services from Bangkok. Kanchanaburi War Cemetery is situated adjacent to Saeng Chuto Road which is the main road through the town. When approaching from Bangkok, the cemetery is on the left side of the road, towards the far (northern) end of the town. A Commission signpost faces the cemetery on the opposite side of the road.

Well kept and very moving experience even if you do not have a relative interred. Many stories here that perhaps we will never know of...

“So many ...so young”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2014

I think there's about 5000 at this cemetery and another 1800 in another cemetery we didn't visit. We walked amongst the memorials for the British servicemen and were struck by how young most of them seemed to be.

“They were young once too”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

Part of our tour in Kanchanaburi took us to the cemetery where allied prisoners of war are buried. The cemetery is well maintained and everything looked neat and tidy. Walking past each gravestone, you can see how young these men were when they gave up their lives. These men could have made something for themselves but instead are now thousands of miles from home. We must never forget the futility of war.

“Cemetary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

A very sobering experience walking through this cemetery. This is primarily an English cemetery as all the US soldiers where removed to the United States. It is well maintained by the locals. We visited this site in October of 2000.

“Please visit and remember thier sacrifices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2014

Our tour took us to the war cemetery which has been very well maintained and in the chaos of Thailand is a very pleasant, clean and tidy place to visit and pay your respects. I applaud the people responsible for the cemeteries maintenance. This is an important part of the history of the allied forces especially those from the British empire and we should all try to visit to pay our respects for the sacrifices these soldiers made.
