Owner description: The town of Kanchanaburi is 129 kilometres North-West of Bangkok and is best reached by road, along the National Highway which runs north from the capital. There are bus and train services from Bangkok. Kanchanaburi War Cemetery is situated adjacent to Saeng Chuto Road which is the main road through the town. When approaching from Bangkok, the cemetery is on the left side of the road, towards the far (northern) end of the town. A Commission signpost faces the cemetery on the opposite side of the road.

“A very sad time in Thailands History”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

Well this is one of the more sombre places to visit in Thailand. However if your in the vicinity its the least you can do to pay thanks to the 1000s of lives lost building the Burma Railway. The cemetery is so beautifully kept and so peaceful now. A place to quietly reflect on the past and think of those who perished.

“Moving ”
Reviewed April 18, 2014 via mobile

Beautifully kept cemetery, the land kindly donated & maintained by the Thai people. This place is a poignant reminder of one of the many tragedies of war. The fact that all this young men so sadly perished building this railway helps set the mood for kanchanaburi as slightly more somber and reflective than other places in Thailand. Such an important piece of history will always be remembered here and IMO if you're in town, it's equally important to take an hour or so to pay your respects.

“So Sad.”

The Cemetery is absolutely beautiful. The people look after it and nothing is out of place. It is indeed a monument for all those who rest there.

“Impressive memory”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

thankfull to see how the grave-stone of far-relative is being cared for. Whilst walking along it we saw names we recognised and afterwards they belonged to relatives of close study-friends. How small a world can be.

“beautiful memorial”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

Such a well kept memorial really nice to see. Really nice to visit, the bridge over the river kwai is not far from here and the museum is not too far either. The museum isn't the best but is nearby so worth popping in.
