Arrived unable to find it. After being told it was near the lake we found it was actually ON the lake; an actual raft.

Stayed 1 night...owner spoke perfect English...very helpful. Food/restaurant was superb (loads of choice and cheap)

Rooms basic with a poor fan but if you're looking for somewhere cheap, rogue and different to stay maybe on your way to the Phunamron Thai-Myanmar border crossing (as we did) it's absolutely perfect (15 min walk from bus station in Karnchanaburi) with an awesome chill out area and array of wild animals who the couple owning the raft feed regularly. More people need to see this place as we were the only guests and it didn't look like more were swarming there

Basic and clean accomodation on the river. I choose this as it was very reasonable and located close to the bus station ( as needed to do border run to new border at phu nam rawn into Myanmar ) friendly and English speaking owner who I like to practice my Thai with. Evening meal in the restaurant had well sized portions and cold beer. Room was priced at 350 baht and had a great view of the river although cheaper rooms to be had without bathroom. Very chilled and worth spending a few days there.

The most amazing place to stay! Basic rooms but outstanding location- beautiful scenery and close to the centre. There is a lounge/common area with plug sockets and wifi (although wifi reaches to most rooms). In the lounge us a big screen tv with hundreds of films. One film us put in each night around 6 and many people stay to eat their meals at this time. You are free to order food and take drinks then write them in your room book and pay at the end. Food is very good!

The owner is the most helpful and friendly person I have come across so far on my trip and he speaks very good English. There is also some info folders with FAQs and attractions in (which I wish I found earlier!) that are out in the table in the lounge.

Already planning to return! A very peaceful stay on the raft.

Our room at Nita Raft House was simple and small but had everything required for a great nights sleep. The owner of this place and his family are extremely nice and the food they cook on site is amazing and cheap. Waking up to the sounds of birds in the morning with the gentle motion and sounds of the river is very relaxing and something I will never forget. Owner allowed us to hang out and watch movies in his outdoor common area while waiting for a bus until 6:30pm even though we had checked out in the morning. Only a few minutes walk into town where we rented bikes for 20 baht to explore the rest of Kanchanaburi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the river view

Stayed here 2 nights in May 2013 in the 'penthouse' suite. (the only room with AC and right on the river) What we loved most was that it was a little way away from town and was very quiet. It was about a 10-15 minute walk to restaurants etc but we rented bicycles on our first day so it was easy to get to and from town. It is also quite close to the bus station, less than 10 mins walk.
The proprietors were very friendly and helpful and had good english. Food was quite good too. We were the only guests here at the time of our stay.
Room was very clean and comfortable, shower was hot and had good water pressure. Two of the walls of our room were glass which gave us an excellent view of the river and mountains in the distance. It was very peaceful and serene, even though we could sometimes hear the music from the disco boat across the river.

Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere that is peaceful and relaxing but not too far from town.
