“A very funny thing to do”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

I've seen lots of review saying the elephants are mistreated here. This is not really true, if you consider that an elephant is an animal, and not a cartoon character with high IQ, very active social life and a strong sense of ethics. Yes, some of them are chained, the younger ones. Keep in mind that there are a highway and a road nearby. So better keep them away from careless drivers around. I've checked some of the elephants skins, and seen no trace of wounds of any kind. During my visit, a young mahout was teaching an elephant the hard way, and it took almost no time before an older mahout kicked the youngster's butt.

This said, it costs about 800B per person, including the elephant bath. Take the bath, you won't be disappointed. Bring dry clothes either. You will get soaked, hair to toe. There's also a short show before going to trek, featuring baby elephants. Very funny. Elephants have a good sense of entertainment.

I do enjoy riding the elephants, but like other 'camps', it is a shame the way the animals are held and chained. This place seemed no better or worse than any others I have been to.

“Fun time”

Our group thoroughly enjoyed the elephant ride, and feeding baby elephants. Rain began just as our ride commenced, and trainer made us rain hats of Leela flowers... A memorable keepsake. Ask for demo of baby elephant dance.

“Great experience”

A great experience bathing with the elephants. If you are up in this part Thailand, it is a must. The river we swam in was flowing and clean, so much better than some of the other elephant camps / rivers we had been to

“I love elephants”

these gentle giants are happy to carry you around and are only too happy to eat your bananas. A touristy but relaxing trip through some bush and into the River where hunderds of butterflies swarmed. Great
