“Perfect for a history buff, not so much for everyone else”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

If you like history and want to visit just to pay the tribute to the fallen soldiers, then go. However, there is not much to do around the area or at the bridge.. we were only there for about 5min.

Another piece of advise,
DO NOT USE THAILAND TOURS CENTER to visit River Kwai or the cemetery. Tigertemplethailand.com is the worst tour company and they will definitely rip you off. The guides are nice, but useless as our guide literally told us 2 sentences and then left us to our own devices at every single location.
The owner of the tour company is an arrogant, miserable, man who is racists towards Americans and is not above physically threatening its customers and intimidating them by promising to get the driver to abandon you 3 hours outside of Bangkok.

“An Amazing Accomplishment!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

The bridge is the one must see that you have to visit when you come to Kanchanaburi.....given the circumstances and the condition the POW's were in is just amazing!
Be sure to visit the Thailand - Burma Railway Centre first before coming here as you will be able to get a better understanding of what happened here and how bad a condition the POW's were in at the time of building this bridge.

“History unearthed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

We took a walk along the bridge. It was bringing the sad memories of the history and those who suffered and died during the railway tract building process. It is being heavily commercialized. I wonder how many visitors who visits this place would think about the sufferings of those who perished here.!

If you cross the bridge and walk further you will see lots of birds. Birders it will be an additional bonus for you!!

“Just nice to say you have been”

obviously this place has a sad story to tell. But the place is nice and they have a few stalls for shopping, fresh fruit to eat and souvenirs that you can buy.

“A must do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

For those whom want to reflect upon the history of this bridge it is a must do.
You can walk across it, but listen out for the trains, there are step back areas but quickly get crowded.
