“Beautiful setting on the bank of the River Kwai”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

This has been our 3rd stay at the Felix River Kwai Resort, and as always we thoroughly enjoyed the serenity and peace. The gardens are lovely as ever and this resort still has the best pool ever. The rooms are a bit dated, but still great and add to the colonial theme.
Breakfast is fantastic!! And as always the staff go out of their way to accommodate us.

I would like to mention the following points as constructive criticism:

1. The sauna area by the pool needs some renovating and paintwork and is a eyesore in comparison to the reset of the resort.

2. I would suggest the implementation of coffee/tea facilities (kettles) in the rooms.
It is a 4* resort after-all and we stayed in the deluxe river view (higher room type than entry level) and had no tea/coffee making facilities. The staff kindly brought us some boiled water each morning and we bought our own coffee, sugar & milk.

The gardens offer numerous picnic areas / benches & tables to enjoy your own picnic lunch or a glass of wine while staring out over the River Kwai.

It's a short walk to the Bridge, and we easily crossed to the other side where there are numerous restaurants to enjoy. Be careful when returning back over the Bridge at night... although there are lights on the bridge itselve, it's very dark and dangerous at the point where one has to get off to go back to the resort. I would suggest taking flash lights if you plan on doing so.

Had a great relaxing time at Felix River Kwai - will be back again in the near future.

The setting of the hotel is lovely. Right on the banks of the river, if you are lucky enough to be in one of the buildings that are on the riverside. However the place is starting to show its age. My room had no chain or bar lock (single woman) and the terrace looked a little shaky in places. Still the greenery and natural surroundings were a welcome break from Bangkok.

The rooms are just ok and would need a renovation, especially the bathroom, but the garden is very lovely and tropical. The swimming pool is also very nice and beautiful.
But the hotel is not very well located and so you don't really have the choice for dinner except taking a taxi to go downtown...

We stayed here for one night during a sightseeing trip round Thailand. I would agree that the the hotel could do with a good deal of refurbishment, the rooms are rather basic and wouldn't recommend trying to sit on the chairs on the the balcony. We arrived in the late afternoon and by the time we had found the pool it was getting dark. I thought the pool was lovely and it looked very clean so we had a long refreshing swim in it. The hotel is in a good location for seeing the famous bridge and the museum but I am glad we only stayed there for one night as it wasn't a particularly good hotel and it was miles from anywhere.

This is a beautiful hotel on the banks of the river Kwai. Unfortunately it's on the wrong bank. The town and all the sites are on the other side and other than a long road detour the only access to the other side is over the rail bridge which is not entirely safe and certainly not to be risked after dark. The hotel rent bikes but you are not allowed to take them out of the hotel grounds!! The have shuttle transport but you need a minimum number of people and it is expensive as are taxis. If you want to sit by the pool during your stay it is fine but otherwise look at the other side of the river

Arrived in the evening, I found the hotel was large and in good environment. Early the next morning, I walked around the entire hotel and found it is a very large garden, or a couple of gardens. The hotel is on the side of River Kwai, so the scenery is even more charming. The pool near the reception is lovely, and It takes time for me to find the other swimming pool in the east. The breakfast buffet has a lot of varieties to choose from, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
