“Beautiful grounds, excellent pool, ok rooms”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

We stayed her for only one night on our trip to visit hellfire pass and the bridge on the River Kwai.
The resort is a few km's from the town, over the river and so is out of the way. On arrival the entrance to the resort is beautiful. The pool is excellent and the grounds are beautiful, however the same cannot be said for the rooms. They are clean and comfortable, but worn out and in need of a lick of paint and a bathroom update. Our shower was quite poor with limited pressure.
Overall, for a few nights, as a place to base yourself and explore the area, the accommodation is fine. You do need to realise that it is more difficult to get into town, it is not just a short walk away, you will have to arrange some transport.
We ate at the restaurant in the resort, but on the river on a floating barge. The food was good, service was ok, but the setting was divine. Overlooking the Bridge which at night is lit up.

This hotel is good for one night stay, when you realize it is too late to look for something else.
Hotel is very dated, especially bathrooms, beds are very firm and could not be comfortable for everyone, grounds are nice but there is a lots of Mosquitos ( like everywhere by the water in Thailand) , nobody sprays bushes to reduce the problem. Free wifi in the lobby is big plus, as well as good breakfast. Pool area is great, but could be lighten up at night, at least for caution purposes.

Great stop with a big pool and nice gardens. Rooms a good size but a little dated. Fridge, water, AC . Beds firm, rooms clean. Staff helpful

Restaurants basic flare, breakfast ok. So worth a stop in Thailand.

The staff here is great, but the facilities are aging with little update done. the beds are sagging, the rooms could use a fresh coat of paint. When we complained about the beds, we were changed to a much more comfortable room, much to their credit.

We were here for New Year's Eve and they offered a spectacular feast with a lovely show. They went all out for the festivities. Great decor and entertainment.

It's really hard to rate this place because some aspects are so wonderful, such as.staff. but the rooms are showing their wear and tear. I wish I could give this place 4 stars, but a comfy bed should be a hotel's top priority.

Room Tip: Insist on a room with newer mattresses.

Fantastic place to stay, I would personally rate it a 5 star. Its the best in town, good sized rooms, spacious, friendly staff, quick responses, good view, good food, enough breakfast seatings.
Most of all we had the GM making sure that all is well for us even on a Sunday. OMG!! This is called total commitment to customers satisfaction.

All my friends were very satisfied, they would all like to come again.

Room Tip: River View

We were quite disappointed by the Felix River Kwai. For the price they charge one can get way better facilities and services in Thailand. As commented before, the hotel is quite old and so are the rooms - very old fashioned though everything works ok. However, no Wifi inside the rooms. The bathroom was actually quite dirty. Stains all over the tiles and a very disgusting shower curtain full of mold...We had dinner at their restaurant and were shocked about the very small portions at a very high price. Breakfast is so so - nothing to write home about. Staff was ok, but could be a bit more friendly. Wouldn't come back here. Careful - their taxi service to Bangkok is a rip off! 4,000 THB yet a private taxi costs 1,500 THB. Transport to town also largely overprized. 180 THB versus 100 THB which is the official price.
