We boarded the train from Thakilen station in Kanchanaburi province for an hour ride. The experience is unique in the sense that you can feel going back time to the historical age of old trains, the compartment had all wooden seats with a cushion and large open windows through which one can gaze upon the Kanchanaburi countryside. The train slows down near the bridge where you can catch spectacular views of the Kwai river. First class compartment provides better amenities and fare is around 150 Baht per person.
Only downpoints were the temperature, which was very hot ( Kanchanaburi is hotter than Bangkok) and train arrival at station which was a bit late.
