“Sobering but inspirational”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We hadn't intended to visit a museum, but after visiting the nearby war ceremony, where almost 7000 mainly Australian, Dutch and British POWs are buried it seemed a fitting thing to do. We were very impressed by the well displayed exhibits, which included memorabilia and models. There's also a short film featuring some of the survivors. A great insight into both inhumanity and courage.

“Very informative”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

An excellent, well organised exhibition. Located right across the road from the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, we found it very informative. Covered the history of the railway from its infancy right through to the end of the Second War World. Would highly recommend a visit here.

“Fantastic and Informative”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The Thailand-Burma Railway and Research Centre, located adjacent to the cemetery, is one of the best museums in the area. The 120 baht entry fee includes a free cup of tea or coffee in the 2nd floor cafeteria after you have finished viewing all the exhibits. This modern museum uses video footage and dioramas to effectively portray the lives of POW’s who worked on the railway. It is well set out, the displays are very informative, and if you take your time and read all the information on the various displays, you come away with a very good understanding of what really happened during this period in history. I highly recommend visiting the museum and then wandering around the war cemetery next door.

“Lots of info”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

A well kept museum with lots of info displayed in many different forms. The cafe upstairs is an easy place to swap stories, and compare insights. Te free coffee/tea is also a winner.
