“A True Historical Account of the Railway of Death”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

My grandfather was a prisoner of war on the Burma Railway. I organised a tour of both ends of the railway through www.tbrconline.com with my mother, 2 brothers and sister-in-law. The understanding of what actually took place during the war has resulted from years of research by the dedicated people who run the centre. I recommend that anyone who has an interest in the history of the railway spend a few days on a tour organised by TBRC. Going to several of the actual sites where the railway had been was fascinating.

Rod Beattie has created a remarkable historical account in the museum of what actually took place and his tour to the border of Burma is a must. Andrew provides great insights into the history of the area close to Kanchanaburi. Aoh is a great guide while Terry Manttan will organise for you a tailored tour to suit your needs at an extremely reasonable price and give detailed information about relatives or events of the railway. It was also amazing to learn of the link between my grandfather and Terry's father who both were in the same force on the railway.

It is also interesting listening to their own personal stories of why they have dedicated their lives to this important historical event. They all are to be congratulated for their efforts.

“Well collated information and displays.”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

A lot of work and commitment on display. It provides a dispassionate (in the circumstances) record of the POWs and Asian labourers who were brutalised during the construction.
